The rinky dink panther

I've always loved the Pink Panther. My siblings used to find it boring but I used to be mesmerized by the simplicity of the storylines, the ironic and comical scenarios and the moody and 'strangely, too sophisticated for a kid' musical score.

I think my love of all things French (well almost all!) stemmed from this early childhood experience...

I remember a few of the storylines, when the Pink Panther is chased by a balloon, when he buys a new car that has a mind of it's own and the one where it's his birthday and he suffers from a hangover and turns blue.

I sometimes see them on tv and I'm amazed at how strong the appeal still is. One afternoon my 5 year old nephew and I sat spellbound by about a dozen cartoons back to back. He really loves them too, awww bless him, Mashallah (A)

All 124 cartoons are available in a DVD box set and I'm certainly going to be looking out for it in the sales! It's currently priced at ?14.99 at play.com too, which is a super price for it!

There's a website that's been put together by a devoted PP fanatic www.high-tech.com :)

The Pink Panther films with Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau were very amusing too. I hear they are remaking a 'The Pink Panther' starring Steve Martin due for release in 2006 www.sonypictures.com. I doubt that it will be anywhere as good as the originals, Peter Sellers was just amazing, and as much as I love Steve Martin, I just know, it's not going to work!!
