the sin of sins.

i think its fair to say that in most civilised societies there are a few recognised carnal sins. not a huge number, so as not to be oppressivley restrictive for the average joe, but a few choice carnal sins, which contravene any even distressed standard of public ethic.

killing, raping, steeling being three of the most obvious.

a fourth, possibly more important one, i have noticed, has been in severe danger of being relegated to the distant foggy memory of primordial man, in this world of warped surreal anarchy that envelops us with each passing day.

i know you all know what this fourth most evil of sins is, and so i feel embarassed mentioning it, for fear of patronising you, but forgive me, my friends, for doing just that, since it needs to be clearly defined for those of you with clouded vision.

it is the sin of women using the word 'yaar'.

of course, the punishments appropriate for this sin-whose-name-cannot-be-mentioned, is a completely seperate but just as viable discussion.

Apparently, the origin of the word yaar, had to do with prostitutes and johns. a yaar is a john, i'm not sure if that's correct.

now ppl use yaar casually to mean dost or friend, one guy on naseeb wrote to me and said i sound liberal b/c of my use of the term yaar

i say relax, it's just a friendly term!!!

hmmm interestingly enough .. I have heard "boyfriends" being referred to as "yaars" .. so girls tend to stay away from that word (in the circles I have moved in ... or was it just me spinning about my axis? .. in any case ..) but us guys use it just as we use "dude" and "dudette".

I say its time to end this tyrannical oppression of women .. let them experience the true nirvana of using the word "yaar" ...how long will the world stand for this .. doesnt anyone care?

Just like any other word, it depends on how you use it. Using in general is common, just like using the word "friend". And by the way, the literal meaning of "yaar" IS "friend".

Yaar is like saying "Buddy". Why does one has to go in to the literal meanings of it, I fail to understand.
