As salaamu 'alaikum warahmatullah,
Today, February 21st, marks the 41st anniversary of the Martyrdom of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz (aka Malcolm X) (may Allah have Mercy on him). It was on this day in 1965 that El Hajj Malik El Shabazz was assassinated in the middle of one of his speeches at the Audubon Ballroom in New York.
If any Muslim in North America is not aware of the significance of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, then they must read about his life journey to find the truth. And once he did truly discover the meaning of La ilaha ilallah, we must recognize that he gave his life to spreading that message through his words and his actions.
Two essential books on this topic are:
1. Autobiography of Malcolm X
2. The Seventh Child: A Family Memoir of Malcom X (if you have read the autobiography, then you should read this as a follow-up)
May Allah (swt) send His Peace and Blessings on Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions,
May Allah (swt) show His Mercy on the soul of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz,
May Allah (swt) remove the obstacles within us and around us so that we may dedicate our lives to spreading the message of La ilaha ilallah to the world as we have seen from the example of Prophet Muhammad (saw) and El Hajj Malik El Shabazz.
