this guy said i was 'such a kid' for liking harry potter


I was talking to somone I met on naseeb and the subject came to the past weekend. I told him I saw harry potter twice with my little sisters and that I've read all the books. He almost freaked out at the thought that someone who is 24 would be into harry potter... I was very upset about this... Looking in this village I don't think I'm too old and c'me on, everyone can use some magic here and there...

My former school JMU actually has a honors course out on the books called "The World of Harry Potter: A Critical Cross-Disciplinary Examination" (wish it was around while I was there)

Such courses offer proof that much (grown-up) thought and cultural insight maybe gained from the literature upon a carefull read. Its genius that Rowling was able to work in all those concepts and still appeal to all ages

uh, hel-llooo. Harry Potter is the universal human story told in a fantastical way. Lets put it this way, even a kid who reads Harry Potter is at a higher level than this guy!!!!

i'm 32 years old and i LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Harry Potter....

I am not ashamed of it and make a point to discuss the books with anyone who attempts to shoot them down without even having a clue as to what they are about.

I have read the books so often and visited almost every website dedicated to HP, posted theories and read millions of others....at this point in life, if some university offered a class on HP, I'd not only ace the class, I could right a whole thesis paper on the subject......

true... the books are maturing with the characters! i mean if u think about it... harry is supposed to be born in 1981 rite? which makes him a year older than me! so actually..it's a little above my age level :P

and isn't there a "kid" in all of us? if we let that kid inside of us die... then we become... old and stale and boring and have no fun loving component in our personality! who would want THAT? :#

i watched the movie twice, and the second time i didnt take my little sisters. i wish i went to a british school.

Sounds like a person who needs to chill out, we all have our own individual likes/dislikes, who is he or anyone to judge...especially if you've never read one of the books then the opinion is groundless...

ask him if he likes superman or batman and see what he says then... it's all about the symbolism and the entertainment value...

Obviously this person hasn't read the books. After the third one it's not actually a kid's book at all! My boyfriend used to refuse to read them too saying that he's not into kids books or fantasy books but then he saw how much I liked them and was like ok i'll give it a try. I almost regret it now because he's become the biggest fan and even dragged me to the midnight showing of the new movie. I could've waited a day! So basically, if this person is gonna put down your interests that tells something about him, and anyway he's missing out on the best story ever!
