yes I love TNG, I got introduced to the world of Star Trek through STNG but I agree with some who consider DS9 to be their favorite.

the new enterprise was more raw. i like that. as much as i liked the older Sar Treks, they all had a very sanitized feel to them. as if the only problems in the future were idealogical ones. still, every series had its characteristics. TNG was heavy on the original mission of the enterprise, exploration. DS9 had some great epic spacebattles, in my opinion the series was about nations going to war. voyager was a bit much. if you ask me, realistically voyager woulda been toasted by some massed kayzon attack or random borg cube AGES before making it back to earth. TOS was tight because its a glimpse into the society of the 60s and 70s, and what they though the future would be like. i think one of my favorit episodes is the one where on some distant planet, wars are simulated and losses are made real by killing people picked from the populace.

like a star trek that takes place in the year 3000 or something.

they need to make a star trek that takes place in the far future...I have a pretty good idea for a new star trek movie..maybe i should call up paramount and see what they say.

While DS9 probably inches out TNG as my favorite series, the feeling I get when I watch TNG ... is like the feeling when I'm coming home.

well, the problem is that newer spinoffs of the franchise have become processed and formulaic. i haven't seen too many of the enterprise episdoes, but it seems to be a bit too contrived. i was expecting a great deal out of the cast (especially since the captain is sam becket from quantam leap). the great thing about tng was that they were dealing with real problems that we face in the future. i was at a friend's house from work and i made him watch an episode on spike. it was the one when wes is in charge of someone older than him; how does he give orders, make demands, etc. of someone who is older than he is? the guy from my job looked at me and said, "hey, this is exactly what we have to do!" and, yes, it can be hard, but shows like tng always went deeper. they had some very smart writers.

Without any question, TNG was the best and yes most of us missed TNG. But I don't agree that Enterprise is weak. I think Enterprise has its own characteristics. The idea behind Enterprise is stronger then Voyager (which was way too technical and often lack artistic touch and esthetic). Its very sad that UPN and Parmount prematuraly ended this remarkable series. Mr. Data, Engage..... :)

I loved TNG, and I wish that they had some new episodes, but I also think that it would be very hard to bring back the exact same series that actually had pretty good actors and didn't rely on special effects. I mean it had Picard, Guynan, and Data all of them really good actors. I think the mainstream media nowadays is going after the big bucks, and bigget audiences. People who are Trekkies, or at least consider themselves to be Star Trek fans are not the only people Viacom is after thus the over commercialisation of Enterprise, and its ultimate demise.

I wish that we could bring TNG back with all orginal cast and the same aura that it had when it started, all I can do is hope and keep my fingers crossed. Until then Spike TV it is.
