too young for what?
Now my issue ---
I very recently met a person in Jordan who, unfortunately, thinks the age split between us is too large, 6 years doesn't seem like much too me, but apparently she disagrees. I think it's a cultural thing, arab girls tend to believe the man must be older, rather than vice versa and i have no doubt that if i was 30 and she 24 it wouldn't have been a problem but the roles where reversed (ahh, fate, you tosser).
and this brings my own questions to the table, considering i'm soon to be an american educated physician, this can't be an issue of support, i hate to make it seem as though it's a money issue, but people don't make much in jordan and i would have no trouble supporting a much better lifestyle than she is into, as far as man as protector thing, though i'm 24, i think i'm more than able to do manly protecting when necesarry. I haven't killed a mastodon in a while but i have no doubt that should one wander into my backyard i could take care of it, i am not an idiot, i tend to have good common sense and judgement, and, imnportantly, i have a strong streak of good luck that tends to carry me through the situations when my judgemnt leads me astray.
so when she said "too young" i am left wondering too young for what?
if i was 20, and she 26, it would make more sense. But 24 and well on my way to a career?
when i'd first met her i thought she was younger (25, but i'm very bad at judging age based on looks)
and she thought i was older (29, i guess i should have shaved or something)
it was only after speaking too her the 4th time, the day before i left jordan that i realized she was older,
and it was after i called her from palestine to talk that i told her i was 24, and that was when she told me, sadly, that i was too young.
we where getting on great, we have a lot in common, we talked and i think we had fun together, we have similar, but not exact, interests, and the only problem was apparently the age thing.
so whats the deal with that.
ladies here, would you consider a guy 6 years younger?
if not, why not?
and what possible reason do you all think she has? other than the age? maybe cultural norms??
other than that anything?????

is this one of those "love at first sight" things? i don't believe in that junk. it will be a cold day in jordanian summer when i become infatauted with a woman after meeting her only 3 times. you'd think and older woman would be more mature about these things...
that is, of course, assuming BvL is right.
which, sorry bro, i doubt it
Call her up! :D
you are a genious baba! pure brilliance in the form of a man!!
that would probably work. I can say that i was kidding and that i'm actually 28 hahaah get it? and show her the ID.
brilliant! in fact, i think i have an id that added three years from when i was 16.
may look around see if i can trak that down....

kaash ke sine mien dil na hoon,

dillagee mein phir, dil bekaraar na ho

rough translation.. but that won't do justice to the poem,
wish had no heart in this soul,
if there were a heart, wish had no feelings
And for feelings, wish they were not for love
Alas, if it falls in love, wish there was no longing in love
may be somebody else can do justice with translation );
i'd say, rest assured--if you were a lil more aggressive, a girl would've decided she was convinced by you...cuz i figure everyone just wants to be loved..and is waiting for someone that will...if you couldve given her that security- that there was something genuine between you guys..that you guys were right for one another--im sure she'd have come around...the age excuse is like the 'too big of a mustache' excuse, it goes by the wayside if things look worth it--though in the abstract the qualities might seem exceedingly important.
in any case, i'm all ready to move on, no gonna pursue this anymore at least until next i'm in the mid east, december at the earlist, although most likely in the summer or perhaps even further along.
it's more an issue of wondering why than moving on it.
i do think she did mean the age thing, she knew i was serious when i asked the number to acll from falasteen, girls don;t tend to hand out telephone number like that over there, and i did introduce her to my mom's after all, it was after the age thing came out that things changed.
regardless, past is past, moven on, just wondering what the deal is with the age split, most girls on this thing, liberal by traditional arab standards, seem to hold the same view on the age split as this young lady.
