Sheesh DOC i couldn't even imagine being in you're shoes...that must be one of the hardest things to do -:-

the toughest thing i have had to deal with was watching my nephew (who at the time was around 12 months old) cry his little heart out....because i inadvertently closed the door....without realising he was standing on the otherside...holding himself up by holding the door at the hinges.....as i closed the door....i heard a scream that i will never forget....and saw that the door had literally cut off, the top of one of his fingers....it was literally hanging off by the thread of his skin :-

Me and my bhabi rushed him to the hospital and they put in 'butterfly' stitches and had to kinda sedate him...because of the pain and the constant crying. I don't think i've ever hated myself as much as i did over that 'incident'.

14 yrs on....my nephew has a very tiny scare where the finger nearly got 'chopped' off.

I still cringe and get upset when i think about that. :(

Being a residential tutor, i was once called at 3 in the morning and was asked to go up to one of the international students and tell her that father had died.

Man that is the worst..

nothing I do would compare to that... my work is trivial by comparison...

apart from my other job.. on the hospital theme, or generally, when my kid is ill, taking her to see the doc, holding her hand in the hospital and pretending for her sake that whatever is ailing her will go away/ stop hurting soon..

ie. putting on a brave face for her, trying not to get distressed yourself.. and wondering whether it's too late to phone your dad at 1am.. the joys of single parenthood
