You would be surprised at some of the desi tactics. They get you emotionally trapped with them, then bring out their DEMAND list, not Wish List and converting is one of them.
But he's not desi. I met a couple people on here who didn't care that I wasn't Muslim. I don't know if they'd wanted me to convert or something though.
i cant really comment to be honest T.....because for me...there was never a question of marrying a non-muslim guy...even though, i grant you, within the 'islam world' we still have our differences...however marrying 'A' muslim bloke would still ensure that my kids would grow up with the basic foundations of Islam...if you know what i mean.
Yeah, I knew what you meant, FON. It's okay. It's all just a question and I knew that.
I know also that a lot of desis want a conversion. Met one who adored me and I really liked him too, but his dad was totally against us because I'm white and Christian. And even he seemed brainwashed into thinking that God forbid something were to happen to him (where do you guys get these scenarios anyway) that I'd raise his kids Catholic or something. Ha, ha!
I told him that if the kid was Buddhist, then he'd be going to the temple. If he was Muslim I'd be driving him to the mosque. If he was Christian then he'd be going to the church, etc, etc. But the kid would be going somewhere. He didn't like my answer.
I don't see why I should have the right to force my kid what to believe.
T please don't get me wrong...i wasn't suggesting that u should convert or anything...i was just merely asking...and ur absolutely right...u have to do what is right for you.
But yaar....if u want to marry a desi (a muslim desi)...then i think 9 out 10 of them would probably want you to convert...coz i don't think there that many (muslims) desis out there who would willing to marry someone who isn't a muslim.....but i may well be wrong on that front.
No, Freak_of_nature. I can't convert. If he liked me then he wouldn't want me to lie. I have my own beliefs and if believes otherwise that's cool.
I could lie to myself, lie to him, but I can't lie to my God. If I practice Christianity then I practice Christianity. I believe in a couple religions, but that's what I practice.

no i made that up... it was just a metaphoric feet washing
Did you have to scrap the toe jam out as well?
Obedience to his will is another. lol
My parents although strong Muslims did not force my sisters into anything and accept the 2 son-in-laws with open arms and heart.
Many paths to God in my opinion.
FON, there are desi or Muslim guys out there married or dating non-Muslims with no expectation of having the woman convert
