i went to istanbul and stayed in sultanahmed. lots to see around there but i'd say be careful of the men there - esp if you are travelling alone or with females only!

Jasmine is right Turks love us. Istanbul is loaded with history. Then there is Tubitak (the eastern end) there they are known for their hot springs and Turkish baths and you get a feel of the more rustic part of Turkey. Some one also recomended Ankara ...altho' I haven't been there. Enjoy
