U2 Experience

Salaams Everyone. I thought I would like to share my experience to how popular U2 is outside the US. A few months ago, I was in Madrid, Spain, and saw a sea of people just standing. When I went to ask them what they were standing for they told me they were in line for concert tickets. I nodded and kept walking, and then asked another person what concert. He told me "Udos". I stared at him blankly, thinking it's just some Spanish group I haven't heard of. "Udos" he kept telling me over again, the people around catching attention to this foreigner who is asking such a dumb question. It was then that it hit me, thousands of people were standing in the streets for hourse for the chance to get vertigo tickets the old fashioned way. It was definitely a sight to see. As I walked away, I started talking with my Italian friend..."can you believe these Spaniards translating the name of the band?"...to which he replied "Well, it Italy we call them Udue". Crazy Europeans. :)

(on a sidenote, if you have the opportunity to see a show on this tour, DO IT. It's an awesome concert that truly comes alive)

U2 is up there as one of my favorite bands of all time, but one of the best live performances I have ever seen was one of STP's final shows (Hammerstein Ballroom). Scott Weiland is probably the most charismatic front man I have seen. Definitely full of energy, and intimacy. The live version of "Sour Girl" was amazing.

Thats hilarious....those wacky spaniards....

I completely agree.....if you have the opportunity to see them, it is not to be passed up. simply an unbelievable rush of exhiliration. ive seen a few concerts of big-name groups: the stones, sting, pearl jam, tom petty, even snoop, eminem, and the rest of the dawg pound :). you cannot compare. these groups merely sing a few songs. u2 takes you on a journey. of course im a biased source....ive seen them over 10 times now.

I love U2, but their concerts lack intimacy and enjoyment. Before I get attacked, let me explain. Getting a good seat is difficult and sometimes expensive. Once again, I love them, but when 80,000 people are screaming and Bono is a spec on the stage, it is not that enjoying. They were in MSG, NY, a few weeks ago, but I decided to skip.
