PEACE over here (and im pretty sure you have a similar system in the states) whenever u violate a driving offense ie speeding....skipping through red lights etc...you incur 'points' on ur driving license.

Usually a traffic offense like speeding or going through a red light will result in u incurring 3 points on ur license.......and the maximum number of points you are 'allowed' to incur is 12...once you hit that target then more than likely ur driving license will be taken off you (for a length of time...usually anywhere from a yr upwards) so you no longer can legally drive a car.

If you incur points on ur license you carrying those points for 3 yrs and if within those 3 yrs u dont incur any further points...then those points are wiped off clean.
