Yup...at the end of the day it's just a case of recording learning experiences. It's a little more difficult for me, as I'm not in retail/hospital...but alhamdulillah I manage :)

and the same when tritace came off patent too!
whats always so annoying is you get at least 3 letters from the company telling you bout it, so u assume the GP knows..but nooooooooooo, they live on different planet where the postie doesnae come! lol

Yup

Ethically if caps are prescribed, you can only dispense caps. Same for tabs, if tabs are prescribed, you can only dispense tabs.

What's going to happen is that the Flomax caps are running out/have run out...so pharmacists are sending scripts back to GPs to change the scripts to tabs so that they can dispense Flomaxtra.

In a couple of months, one of the generic suppliers will probably release caps, which will be much cheaper.

By then, all the patients will already be on tablets, so the Pharma companies will have retained their sales.

It happened with Cardura when the XL came out just before patent expiry.

Disgusting, huh?

its a wee store, but busy with Rx and sales too!

PI are a whole arena of problems themselves..we get sooo many px coming back saying we gave them wrong stuff cos we give PI's on some brands.
When i asked an independant bout this, they said their px dont really say much..must be only Boots Px!!! lol

Flomax...i contacted my local PPA and they said we were ok to endorse PC on Rx, and i then faxed all local GP's bout the change, but guess what...me still flomax Rx...lol

sorry salms...no excitement bout zoton as yet..lol

Flomaxtra on the PSNC site: www.psnc.org.uk id=1682

In practice, I doubt that this will have any serious adverse implications.

Ohhh sorry Salms...I guess in Ramadan I kinda ermmm went into semi-ish hibernation :)

I didnt know abt the marketing ploy...I thought I read that on the PSNVC website, who are meant to be independant. Will look into it. As for PI's...it may well be available but unfortunately the PPA dont recognise PIs so when it comes to endorsing FP10 scripts they're likely to return them to the contractor without payment :( Red tape, I tell you!

Hmm not that excited about Zoton ;)

Have you ever worked in retail? I've never done hospital...I guess its probably too late now to start to be honest. Khayr, so far so good! :)

How long have you been qualified? :)

Yikes! Poor you! Cooking at 11pm! Sounds like you're practicing for the future...muhahahahaha!
Khayr Mubarak!

Yeah, it's all about money. We can't even substitute Flomax MR for Flomax scripts as they have different bioavailabilities. So contacting a GP for every script? Grr...only to find out that a generic Tamsulosin will be launched in a couple of months anyway! ARGH! There should be a law against this! Happened with Cardura and Cardura XL...PLOO!

Yeah, management comes with enough hassles, especially in Boots. I wonder how things will change structurally with the Boots Alliance merger? We shall soon find out...

Are you small store/large store? I think I've asked you this before...but am getting old :P

I iron on a prn basis :P

Wa salaam!
