untitled dry spells
the well within which, recollections,
and memories of you are contained
and ever so authentically preserved
serves to me as a haven
like a nomad
driven delirious, foolish, weak
by an unquenchable thirst
provoked from the sweltering heat
and scorching rays of the sun
for which I walk endless miles
on a land barren, dry, rocky
and irregular
obstacles paving my journey
wandering aimless, seemingly
in search of the well
that will be my fertile valley
my only sense of direction
the promise of you,
oh so magnetic, that.
for each milli-second of relief
I must walk a fortnight
and like a na?ve escapist
I console myself perpetually
of the infinite, everlasting,
magnitude of water
and its eternal supplication
because
even if the very scorching rays of the sun
and the sweltering heat, were
for apart from my insatiable longing
held acccountable also, for
the depleted, droughtened well,
and exhausted supplication
still I would,
every fortnight, make the journey
if only to immerse the soul of mine
inside the well
to drink into the essence
and dwell upon the fragrance
of what once was.
