Vote to ban Swearing and Foul language

I think i have had enough of this swearing and foul language on every single village entry by various people, specially "Kaniza".

What i want to know is how many of you guys also think that she is out of line, and there must be something done about it.

I would like to start this village entry to see what all of you think, and if most of the village members think like i do, we can then write an email to the village creator or moderator to ban such people.

July 15, 2005 update.

Kaniza has actually shown, the way to do it guys. If you all have noticed, there is no more swearing and foul language from her (it actually feels like heaven), thank you kaniza.

-END of update-

You guys, let's chill out for a sec ok. Firstly, Abshaw and Fairytale, I do agree that there is a way to disagree and to be able to take and convey healthy/constuctive criticism however, I have seen this Temur character come off as a real "winner" (sarcasm fully intended!) on a particular JE on this site so yes, in reading the back-and-forth between him and Kaniza, I think she has some really valid points; I also can empathize with her frustration. Temur seems extremely arrogant, shallow, and un-Islamic if you read into his postings. I think any sane individual would despise him the way he comes across. Secondly, I feel that there should be stricter controls put in place in terms of who to allow into villages in general and who not to. Kaniza is fine in my book; I admire strong, intelligent women who have a voice and she is certainly one but I do feel that Temur should be put on disciplinary action or run the risk of being booted out as he neither presents his thoughts and/or arguments in a coherent manner nor is he a very tactful, pleasant individual. He seems to be a trouble-maker, to be quite honest...just look at his postings and you'll know what I mean. I also see that he disrespects women in general...urgh...not good. I am a starter of 2 villages, one of which mash'allah has some awesome discussions on it with intelligent, mature individuals participating actively; I wish this one (PashtunLounge) would polish up soon too. Also, as I said earlier, stricter measures have to be incorporated to allow mature villagers to stay and either boot the others out or not even allow them in to begin with!!!

Fairy tale, sister, you are not alone in those thoughts. The reason for my opening up this journal was to know what and how everyone feels about it. I too am too ashamed to read most of the personal attack stuff.

I think its too childish to attack personally to begin with, to have a sensible debate or refreshing talk that begets some results, one has to be tolerant of others. This property ensures a proper and enduring debate that takes into account everyones point of view, and not intimidate people to flee from the reason of getting attacked personaly.

what say you?

P.S i do not even know what this battle is all about and wouldn't bother to read up on the history of this 'personal attack competition'. I would rather have someone else come up with sensible topics/JE that we can all participate in. The best way of dealing with filth is to stop splashing it around and try to counter balance it with something more intellectually refreshing.

To be very honest, i feel ashamed whenever i step into this village. To see my people discussing nothing but insignificant; trivial matters, making personal attacks, using the worst kind of language i have ever heard/read leaves me shaking my head, makes me go into a uncomfortable process of analysing and reanalysing the underlying causes of this consistent behaviour and the fact that i cannot come up with something concrete that can explain or justify it makes it even worse. There is nothing wrong in arguing, in debating, in questioning another's point of view but thats not what is happening here. I donot see any attacks on an 'idea'; 'a certain point of view'. All that is happening seems to be a competition of 'come up with the worst kind of personal attack possible'. I came here thinking we would be talking about Pakhto, Pakhtoon wali, the issues currently facing the Pakhtoons, and something else along these lines. I was so disillusioned that i felt like leaving this village but then i realised something else. That this village has got only a few active members and unfortunately they don't know or cannot appreciate the mannerism and tradition of a good debate. However, it would be very wrong to generalize that attitude to the rest of the village as i haven't seen the others saying anything and maybe if they do, i would find them sensible, tolerant of different point of views, and that made me see some light at the end of the tunnel. And i decided to stay on..

point taken sophisty. Where does it say that people cannot agree to disagree, but this thought is not seen in the good soul of some memebers in here. They would rather take the imoral road of swearing and talking foul language, that to me is more ignorance and lack of manners and beyond the ettiquates of a valid argument. There are ways to be in disagreement and still avoid foul language, that is all of my concern, as it becomes hard to keep focus on any particular topic with so much personal bickering going on. what say you?

I hop into this village once in a while, Punjaban me, but I truly enjoy the JEs and I must say that Kaniza makes some excellent points, God bless her intelligence. The "swearing" is completely out of emphasis as it is difficult to convey one's emotions online without putting some emphasis into your wording, ESPECIALLY when provoked. In my book, I don't see her stepping out of line and in fact commend her for standing up for her views.
