Wahashtaini

Oh man, I spent last semester in Cairo. I'm Pakistani American but I'm almost feeling homesick. I thought I would get over it after a few weeks of returning but its been over 2 months now and I still miss it. I miss my friends, the places, everything. It's gotten so bad that I dream about it. Ya Masr wahashtaini!
:(

i know what your saying, my family is in egypt right now, and i'm here doing nothing lol, but i agree with you, egypt has such a chill atmosphere, it seems everyone is trying to enjoy life, it's not like in the US, were everyone you see is so consumed with work and home, that they have no time for thier lives, it's one of the few places were you can be out till like 3 am, and not really worry about getting mugged or shot, like around here, that and people are mosty friendly, my only compliant about egypt was that since i don't rally know my way around, i wasn't too independent, not like here, were i can jump in my car and go, while over there, i had to wait for someone to free up and take me which didn't always happen lol, but all in all, i miss egypt as well, i got all my family over there, and we only see each other every blue moon, that and we're fairly close, so it kind of gets harder and harder to leave you know lol

I think I might be going back for a visit in December. Woohoo!
Also, Hatem, I think even with the polution and the heat, and crowds- the people are warm and welcoming and there is so much history. ALso, Cairo is the most chill place I've ever been. I love the Malesh attitude, even if sometimes it can get annoying. Most of the time it is refreshing to see people enjoying life and not gettin stressed about EVERYTHING

I HEAR YOU. Masr is addictive. It is the middle east's melting pot. Over thousands of years non-egyptians willingly lost their identities for Egypt. They settled by the Nile and never left. You name it; Greeks, Armenians, Europeans, turks, Arabs and the list goes on. We have a secret formula of tolerance that no one else has. With all the difference ethnicities and skin colors we have, you won't ever hear about ethnicity tensions. Is it the Nile, the culture, the atmosphere or is it all of those together? I don't know but it is where everybody feels home.
