I have been looking for a friendly masjid around Philadelphia.. I am always scared the ones in the city are more of the Farrahkhan type.. I'm also scared of being alienated because I'm a white American girl..

I'd love to make a friend who can help me with my religion and maybe accompany to masjid and help me learn what to do, religious culture and all that. :-)

I would also like to make some Muslim friends in Philadelphia. I haven't really met any girls/women on here before, so I'm really excited. I mostly like to stay home, but I also enjoy going out for coffee, museums, etc. I also love to cook!

Salaam, when i moved here i found joining the penn msa sisters listserv to be very helpful. they have lots of nice events, not sure how old you are but there are people there of various age groups. also, phillysisters has a listserv too, sisters will advertise halaqaas and stuff like that. there are sooo many masjids here. i go to the foundation for islamic education, in the villanova area. they have educational things but usually in the daytime. i've found the younger muslim gals here to be very friendly, accepting and open. good luck and perhaps we'll run into each other....
