WAQT
"Waqt" is the new movie directed by Vipul Shah (of the blind caper heist "Aankhen" fame), and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani (Dr. Asthana from Munna Bhai), and Shefali Shah (the director's wife, and a theatre actress).
I know, I know, I know, you're all wondering..."Ashir, you're wasting my waqt by not talking about your thoughts on the movie". And, I concur, that is fair enough. I should really add my thoughts in here so far, rather than just writing nonsensical sentence after nonsensical sentence. That's not something that I would enjoy reading...so, why would I expect you to?? Exactly, that's the reason you'll never catch me doing that!
So, yeah, the movie review, well...not sure if you kids out there were forced by your parents to watch Baghban?? Well, "Waqt" is like the next type of that movie. It's not the same story at all...but it's about a relatable family dynamic. I really could've just said "Yeah, it's a great movie, go and watch it". And, with all these family movies, you know it's always kabhi khushi aur kabhi gham.
Highlights from the phillum include some of the comedy scenes with Amitabh, Boman Irani, and Rajpal Yadav as the clueless naukar...with lines like "Yeh to kuch bi nahin hai". As well, Shefali Shah's quiet and restrained performance...her reactions speak more volumes than anything else. Akshay was solid...but you can tell a bit of hamming it up during dramatic scenes. Boman Irani's fast proving himself to be a reliable character actor. And, the Shahenshah performance naturally belongs to Amitabh. It's amazing at his age how he can just command the screen the way he does! Amitabh rocks!! I loved watching him dance to "Kings of the World", with Adnan Sami singing for him!
Lowlights...some of the songs...I don't know what was going on. "Do Me A Favour, Let's Play Holi" - they're not even trying with the lyrics! And, "Miraksam", catchy as it is, is amusing to watch...especially the dudes in the background...some of them look so creepy! Anu Malik doing his bit as the DJ in the song, wearing a toque and trying his best Apache Indian bit doesn't quite help either.
Anyways, if you skipped everything else I wrote and are only reading upto this part...Waqt's a really good movie, with great dialogues, and a total family entertainer! Definitely give it a watch! Keep khush, kiddos! :)
