don't even bother renting it on video ... terrible, terrible story telling, tom cruise was awful, the dialogue was unnecessarily cheesy at many times

If one cannot make a good movie out of a good book, please don't make it.

Okay fine, you tried and ended up with a bad movie, burn it before it gets out !

Already down some hundred million $$'s ? you're last name is Spielberg ... hey and you're first name is Steven ... break the piggy bank and absorb it /P

LOL @ FAZMAN. I wish I could get my 2 hours back from watching Madagascar last week! The cost of ticket I'd be willing to forfeit just to get those hours back.

The reason they gave was that via evolution over those years... we earned the right to live here on Earth and not them. So while they whooped our butts... the bacteria that evolved with humans (Since we had time to adapt to it), this was all new to the aliens and they could not survive. The action and stuff was actually neat (but after the first 30 minutes... it is a sleeper =( Save your money, beacuse this isn't even worth renting. I wouldn't even waste the time to rent this from netflix using a free trial account OR waste a perfectly good blank .30 cent DVD to rip the movie.

I wish I could get my 2 hours back (not to say anything about the $10 on the ticket to see it).

How come the bacteria didn't bother them when they originally buried the machines underground? Remember, the machines had already been buried underground long ago. The lightening only transported the pilots into the machines...

The yanks just can't make a British film better :p

Don't know if anyone has read HG Wells, but the end is so dumb....for the want of a better word. These aliens had been watching/analysing the earth for over a milions years. They come over and the movie ends with them dying as they over looked the fact that they cant survive the bacteria in our atmosphere....like hello....!

I remember watching the original black and white as a kid...so much better.
This one was, I agree with Ashir, lame.
If you recall how at the beginning everything stops, no power, nothing, even the guys Omega watch has stopped, but hey there's this one guy who's camcorder is still going!! Somethings were very much over looked.

Naaah, this was such a lame movie. I expect this kind of behaviour from Tom Cruise...but from Spielberg?? What's goin' on with him??? The last half hour especially was soooo painful! Ugh!

Saad!! U have issues Body, it was a good movie. Good rethoric and both right wing and left wing agenda's.

I wanted to go see it!!!I thougt it would be a good movie!!!
I saw that one movie "dream catcher" by steven spielberg also and it was SOOOOOO STUPID.All his movies deal with aliens which is kinda weird!!
