Was Sadam a good Muslim?


Well was he? Were his sons good Muslims? Do you even consider them as Muslim? Did they consider themselves as Muslim?

Would any of you liked to have lived in Iraq under their rule? Why?

Saddam was an evil man. None of the Arab countries did anything because he was fighting with his Muslim neighbour Iran. Thanks to Khomeini's stupidity and sayings, such as he's going to export the revolution to other countries, they were more than happy to let Saddam get on with it.

It's funny when you mention these countries as having the strongest muslim armies in the world. They wouldn't stand a chance against any western country or Israel for that matter.

Perhaps all that power went to Saddam's head - Iraq had one of the most powerful Muslim armies in the world, second only to Turkey and Pakistan. Most of the Muslim countries in the middle east have an inconsequential military force.

The fact that Iraq is in turmoil right now doesn't mean that Saddam was a better alternative to the current American regime. Saddam was an evil man. He committed atrocites. I don't know what God has in store for him but I doubt it will be pretty. What's appalling is the sterility of all the arab/muslim nations. They should have been the ones to step and do something against this menace who had terrorized his people (and the region) for so long. Instead, they acted like neutered dogs (b/c seriously, there is no better description) and allow a monumental blunder like the Iraqi invasion to go forth.

So at this point we dont know if Bush did them a favor or not by getting rid of Saddam?

I think its unrealistic to think that it would be smooth transition for the people. As there will be an inevitbale power struggle. In a land that has been ruled with violence and intimidation, its only logical to believe that the power struggles will be much of the same. Yes American Coporations are making money. Had it been a Muslim Country that had removed Saddam, would it not be the Muslim Country making money as well? How much have we spent in removing Saddam?

Who knows whether it's better that Saddam is gone. The country's still war-town, no security, no chance of really making it, and only American corporations are getting richer off the "liberation." (I once had a potential client, a fireman, who wanted to make sure his child support was set before he went to Iraq, which fact he wanted to keep a secret, where his salary would QUADRUPLE. Needless to say, I turned down the case.) The point is, I haven't seen any real improvement in Iraq yet. May be premature, but I agree with AIM that only time will tell whether it was better. Personally, however, I think all they did was trade one a$$ for another.

I dont know if it was Good for America to do it, because it like fire with fire. America has been know to put sanctions, bomb medical bulidings, bomb schools, bomb water supplies, lets not forget the abu gharaib situation and other war crimes. Kingriz , I really dont know, only time will tell what is good for the Muslims, but in my opinion it will be the same or worst situation unless they resort back to the Islamic State.

Did America do a good thing by removing him? I know we supported him in the past, and our motivation was oil and special lobby groups....all that aside. Was it a good thing for Iraqis and Muslims that Saddam was taken out?

Hassan the point is I dont consider, nor does anyone for that matter, that Saddam was Muslim or his rule Islamic. I also feel that the Muslims in Iraq are better off without him in power. Seems that most agree with that....

Well. I?m Iranian, so obviously I have strong views about the man. Suffice to say, he was backed by the West and they eventually got rid of him. Getting rid of Saddam was on the cards since the first gulf war. I hope Iran gets compensated for what Saddam (and the West) did to its people. It seems even though he invaded Kuwait later, the Kuwaitis will be the first to get recompensated. Saddam was not a good man. He gassed and killed millions of people, simply because they did not agree with his tyrannical rule.

no I am here because I personally think it is better for a Muslim to be here right now in this time. I dont know how you derived that assumption from my comment. I was born in here and in ways it is a blessing that we have opportunity, but I dont think the government is good. I think the people here are much more tolerant than other places. But in NO way do I think this governtment is good. When I say I dont like American, I mean to say that I dont like the American Government. The people are ignorant generally speaking and brainwashed by media and propaganda.

According to Allah and the Quran, yes they are, becuae they are not under a tyrant anymore. It all depends what happens after wards. I mean Sadam did one thing. For hundreds of years befoer he got there, the country was constant warzone. When he got htere he pushed the fighting groups to different sites (yes it was done un islamically and was against all morals) but for a while the people were not fighting themselves. They had a bigger problem to worry about which was a currupt ruler. So in the end I really couldnt say unless I lived there.
