Wearing nail polish while praying

There has been some controversy regarding the issue of not being able to wear nail polish while praying Namaz. Has anyone heard that this rule can be overlooked and is not really of importance?

Narconas - it was a genuine question. No need to be rude about it.

wow, time 2 unsubscribe... nail polish coats the nail, theerfore blocking water from touching the nail...thats an incomplete wud'u, and if any of u are familiar w/ the sunnah,. then u know that an incomplete wud'u is like going 2 ur front door without the key... anywayz,....could bust out the ahadith and fatawa....but I think any1 who truly studies Islaam knows the answer 2 this "debate" ws.

Salaams,
I've been asked this questions many times over and so i've asked 3 imams about it. Nailpolish does not contain any impurities therefore it is permissible to wear it whiling praying. As far as wearing nailpolish goes.... we r allowed to wear it when praying namaz so long as we've already completed our wudu before. However, if you break your wudu while you hav it on then you gotta remove the nailpolish nd repeat yur wudu again :)

I personally just use mehndhi when im in d mood for nailpoilsh :)
w'salaams

bismillaah, as-salaamullaahi `alaykum.

Nail polish invalidates neither wuDoo' nor Salaah because it does not contain any najaasah (impurity). According to all four mathaahib it is permissible so long as the sister makes ghusl or wuDoo' before she puts it on. In the event that her wuDoo' breaks or she is required to make ghusl she must remove the nail polish, perform wuDoo' or ghusl (whichever one is required) and then reapply the nail polish if she wants. In the Hanbali mathhab it is makrooh to wear nail polish and it is said to dip the fingers in Henna or dye instead. However, in the Hanbali mathhab makrooh is a very light censure as opposed to the Hanafi mathhab's classification of makrooh taHreeman (which in this mas'alah does not apply). I've answered the best I could according to what I know from all four mathaahib, though I, myself, am Hanbali.

w-Allaahu wa rasoolahu a`lam. was-salaam

i dont know what Jee said cause i cant read it, but- To my knowledge, Me_Daisy is correct- wuduu' is the issue because nailpolish prevents water from reaching the nails. (pssst... wear nail polish once a month and have no worries ;-) ) & Allah swt knows best.

As far as i know, there is nothing wrong in wearing nail polish while offering Nimaz (ofcourse as long as it does not contain any haram igredients). The actual issue is about Wadu. Nail polish prevents water from reaching the nails. So if you are wearing Nail polish or any other such thing, which prevents water from reaching your body, then the Wadu will not be valid. and Allah knows best.
