What are the worst excuses you have used (for anything)?
When I was in my first year of Pharmacy, I was late for handing in one of my assignments and rather than ask for an extension, I approached the doc and said really seriously:
'Someone's died in my family.'
To which the doc replied:
'Can I have the death certificate please.'
Oh my God!!! What the flooda? The next three days, I was visiting graveyards and asking all my friends if someone had died in their family recently. When that didn't work out, I had to contact the lads in Pakistan (no stupid, not to kill someone - just to bag me a death certificate). In the end, they managed to speak to an inspector who provided me with a fax of someone's post mortem report...in Urdu.
So the next day I approached the doc. really seriously and said:
'I hope you understand, sir, that within Asian families, the family bond is extremely strong. Now the man who died didn't exactly die in England....it was more like in Pakistan but the shock waves from his death had reached Britain and being the man of the house, I had to entertain the guests and spend time with them so you understand that I wasn't able to finish off the job.
'Now what I have with me isn't exactly a death certificate...it's more like a post mortem report in Urdu. (then I started going through what the individual words mean) - 'This word 'tasshadud' means violence. And this word means black and blue.
The doc started to p!ss himself laughing and told me, very politely, to get the hell out and hand me the work next week.
