...during my sons nikkah's recently.... someone shared Amir Khusroo's lineage: he was Persian.... didn't speak any Indian languages, but eventually picked up 'seriaki'(multani version of punjabi)and wrote some of the best wedding songs the Indian sub continent has heard.....

and thank you for your appreciation of basant! I agree completely....Thank you even more for that stanza of: Ameer Khusro.... what beauty of thought and perception. I do not think basant has anything to do with nayee tehzeeb or people following the nayee tehzeeb disowning it. I havent come across anything written by Allama but Hzt Ameer Khusro has definitely written a lot on the subject.
Hzt Nizamuddin ke yahaan basant baqaayedgi main manaaya jaata thaa..aur agar aaj bhi woh tehzeeb aur silsila taaza hai.

"Sakal bun phool rahi sarson
Ambva borey, tesu phooley, koyal boley daar daar,
Aur gori karat singhar, malania garhwa le aayin barson
Sakal bun phool rahi sarson"

PS: Do we have a village abt Hzt. Ameer Khusro? If we dont, can you please create one Shazelle...Jahaan e Khusro :) reminds me of the annual festival Muzaffar Ali holds in his name at Arab ki Sarai in New Delhi.
