What do i do?

What do you do when you see a close friend of yours wearing clothing he/she shouldnt be wearing? For me personally, if shes a hejabi, I have no prob telling her that she shouldnt wear that (ex: short shirt with tight pants) with hijab cause shes just contradicting her hijab! But what about the non-hijabies?? It bothers me to see good muslim girls dress like americans...

i shake my fist that them and say something like "WHY YOU HARRRLOTTT (i roll the "r" sound)" then i give them a glare (or a leer if they are hot) and say "YOU DISGRACE ISLAM! I SHALL DESTROY YOU AND WIPE YOUR FAMILY FROM THE EARTH" after that i spit on their shoe and ride my camel into the sunset.

I do agree with you guys when you say we are adults and Muslims alhumdulilah, know whats right and wrong, etc and dont like it when ppl tell us what to wear...I do know these grls on a person level...if someone was not a close friend of mine, I would feel odd telling them something as such...InshAllah, Im not trying to make them feel or look bad, nor am I trying to point out their negative aspects, but it hurts me to see a good grl that is a wonderful Muslimah and a good friend of mine do something wrong, be it in dress or in anything else...Alhumdulilah, I try to be the best example I can...I wear hijab and 3/4 of my clothing are skirts, if not an abaya...I only wear pants if I have a shirt thats around knee length...I really dont like to 'intsruct' ppl, but I feel that its our duty as Muslim brothers and sisters to remind ourselves and those around us of what is right and wrong...I know I would like it if someone told me I was doing something wrong, because it would make me feel that they cared for my well being...I also believe that just because a person doesnt wear hijab does not justify the fact that they are wearing something unislamic...It seems that just giving good advice in a nice manner is the best way to go...Im just looking for alternative tactics :) Jazakum Allah khair for everyones help :)

second that to maryoom's comment. I would probably refrain from "saying" something to someone, and try to lead by example. although, it isn't much of a problem with males :)
One also must understand that we are in a different culture, in which we will be influenced by, whether we like it or not. hold on to your heritage! it is easy to slip away. trust me, I know :(

I agree with Maryoom, especially in these days where fitna and the distorted understanding of Islam by Muslims is just so rampant. Perhaps one needs to help the person in question to purify their hearts with the nicest advice, and better through example and once the heart is purified of its diseases then the person is more open to listen and change. Also it's important that a good relationship of trust be established before giving such advices so that the person know you're giving them an advice for their best, and not just to boss them around.

Honestly, I dislike it when people tell me what to wear. I am an adult, I have been tutored in what is propper and what is not propper and I live in America. I know what is awra and what needs to be covered and how it needs to be displayed and I know that I am not a mutahajiba, therefore I am already not complying with Islamic laws on dress. I think the most appropriate way to handle this is to be nice to the person, look at what is good and positive in the person before you critisize them and show by example. If you are always instructing people or trying to find fault in them they will stray further from islam. My greatest teachers have been those who don't "instruct" but lead by example. They have really brought me to understand what is proper and improper and inshaAllah they will reap great rewards for their non confrontational tactics.

thats really a known fact, and i really doubt that will have any effect on them...ive tried just saying, its nice but kinda short, and stuff like that , but i think it gets annoying after a while...

Well Salam just give her naseeha, and talk to her about some rape victims in your area, you can look up that info on the net, so when she knows of all those sexual preditors in your area, she'd think twice before exposing her body to non muhrams.
