What type of civil engineer is everyone? And, are you doing what you expected you'd do once you graduated and were working in the office and/or field?

well since ur doing masters, I advice u to squuze couple of management and fiancial related classes if u can.

When I build abaseline schedule thats the most challenging part of my process because I have to understand every facet of the project (application of resources, bid items, cost per item, time frame, project constraints, submittals, i can go on and on). I love details, It requires alot of effeciency amd multi tasking and forecasting. So its different in design, and different from actual construction, its a management tool that comprehend the project design and address the construction sequence.

Where are u doing ur masters?

My God, I used a Pre-Historic Version of Staad when I was in school in 1994!! is it windows friendly now?

After I finished My CivilEng. Bacholer degree, I took a different direction, so I got a master in construction management, I am using the skills I learned to be a project scheduler.
am currently a project scheduler for a light rail track commuter job in Down town phoenix, the track part is concrete work, but the major work deals with utilities such as underground water and sanitary pipes.

My job is to build the project schedule using primavera software, and use to progress the Job, and for pay application. I have to be familer and understand most aspectof work, plus have detail understanding of project plans and drawings.
