What do you think?

There is something that amazes me everytime I go to the middle east or when I meet some FOBs over here in Canada... They are so concerned about "what people will think?" or "what people will say?". Moreover they are very much concerned about the "Mujamalat and the "Wajbat" (meaning ethiquette and obligations). I mean, people are making life so complicated over there for free thinkers... You should follow the cattle orelse you're out. How do we expect our society and religion to evolve and advance? What amazes me about Canada (and pre-9/11 US) is that you can be who you want to be, and believe in whatever or not believe and you're allowed to be... Actually the society protects your right to believe. While in Saudi Arabia, you have to hide if you're a Shia... but of course, if you're an amercian jew or a Christian American you get better salaries then arabs (to simplify things). What's your say on that?

unfortunately, ali, this is exactly the case.people worry more about what others think rather than about how the situation may affect them directly. i think this tends to hinder us...but that's just how it is.inchallah more and more people are growing out of this thing...but the majority remains to be the worrying type.

for me, i tend to be in the middle, trying not to care what others think. i wish i was living in a society where people had that mentality...anyhows,each society has its pros and cons afterall, right?

now what do YOU think?! ;)
