True, but you can't reap good things out of bad actions. If the sustanance you earn comes from a source that is not halal or is earned in a way that is not halal, then those earnings are not halal either. So we have to be very careful how we earn our living or we could earn a lot more than that in the hereafter.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, who said : the messenger of Allah said :

"Allah the Almighty is good and accepts only that which is good. Allah has commanded the faithful to do that which he commanded the messengers, and the Almighty has said: "O ye messengers ! Eat of the good things and do right". And Allah the Almighty has said : "O ye who believe! Eat of the good things wherewith We have provided you"
Then he mentioned a man who, having journeyed far, is dishevelled and dusty and who spreads out his hands to the sky : "O Lord! O Lord!" - while his food is unlawful, his drink unlawful, his clothing unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can he be answered !"

Exactly!! Why a bar?? It's not like they can't get ahead by actually being good at what they do.

I find it so sad to hear of people I know that tell me they have to go to the "bars" because that is where business associates have their meetings. And to get ahead in the business and to get noticed, they have to go. When I ask them, so? They reply, "you don't understand. I HAVE to go." My reply, "no you don't. There are other ways around it."

You know, my step dad once stood in for our neighbor at his gas station. He told the guy that he would not sell alcohol or cigaretts that night. The guy was like, yeah sure okay no problem, thinking that there was no way he could do that, well he did. That night no one bought liquor or cigarettes from that gas station that night :)

Personally, I think issues should be addressed upon getting a job or maybe in an interview (if you want to be fair to the employer) And when you do, one should try to compromise WITHOUT doing haraam or disobeying any laws of Allah (swt). And by compromise I don't mean give into unislamic values, but where you can come to a middle ground, then one should.
