What protection should i use?
I have had no internet access for 2 whole weeks. In the end i had to go out and purchase a brand new pc, as my (very old) pc had a virus on it. Now that i have the new pc i want to know which virus protection i should be using.
A few questions:
1) I download a lot of music. I always knew bhangra was a corrupt influence but i reckon the virus came from one of these files. So how can i prevent this happening again? ( i use limewire for this)
2) where can i download this from online?
thats it for now...i really do not want to be in this position again. i was nearly talked into buying a warranty from the pc provider but no such warranty covers virus's.....is this right????

They also tend not to have the easiest-to-use interface (compared to the stuff I recommended). And, if you research Trend Micro in comparison to Norton & Macafee, you'll see that TM tends to be higher rated.
Plus, the stuff I listed came recommended from my computer savvy friends - who also dislike Macafee & Norton for techie reasons I don't quite get, lol.
(For those who use Norton/Macafee - its not the worst thing ever & it does tend to get the job done, I was just offering what imo I believe to be better options. :))

You'd want spyware protection with that, so pair that up with something like Webroot (free scan online but pay for the program): www.webroot.com
If you want comprehensive software & are willing to pay, I would recomend Trend Micro PC-cillian Internet Security (antivirus & spyware): www.trendmicro.com (trend micro offers a free virus scan as well)
I've used each (avast+webroot and trend micro) and have had good results with them.
I do not recommend Norton or MacAfee.
u could have been a little more specific.
I have an Apple Mac. Fortunately for me Macs aren't affected by viruses.
I think norton anti virus is supposed to be pretty good. But I'm no techy.
