What to do in Chicago

Salamz everyone; I'll be doing alot of travelling to the CHicago area; wondered if anybody had recommendations for some activities/restaurants/things to do (other than your standard Navy Pier, The Magnificent Mile, etc). I'm actually looking for a good mid-east or indian restaurant preferably downtown, or close to it.
Thanks!

Chicago has a lot to do depends on your adventurous spirit:

Activities: Try sports (eg. Rollerblading - my favorite) on lake front,

Restaurants: You could try Sayat Nove (Armenian - good sherwarma) on Ohio St., Also there are a bunch of Pakistani restaurants on Orleans (north of Chicago & south of Division) they are mostly cabie hangouts but if the food is fresh then they are good. My fav is Kababish good food (Batir special on Friday) bur dont have nan, I usually pick up nan from Baba's or Zaiqa and food from Kababish. These are the places to go and pick up food I dont like hanging out there, unless you are a cabie.

Things to do: There are usually Desi, mediterrianian, Brazilian, Argentinen or Iranian get togethers, you have to know where to go - usually Sayet Nova have different themes on different weekends - it is best to call ahead.

Hope it helped

The main Desi area of DEVON is near downtown in Chicago terms. You can go for Sabri or Usmania restaurants. I agree, there are no "great restaurants" here
For Arab food try Pita Inn there are several locations.
You'll see a lot of cultural activities in the area near Navy Pier on any weekend.

Check out Reza's on Ontario (Persian, Middle Eastern). Gaylords downtown is good for Indian. There is no "to die for" Indian in downtown. The chicken tikka masala and raita at Indian Garden on Ontario were very good. I used to get it all the time. I haven't been there since 2003, so I don't know if they even have the same chef.

As for different activity, I used to have tea/coffee/hot chocolate at the Four Seasons Lounge in the evenings. Weekends are nice because there is a live band. Good conversation level music.
