yeah i know, i'm just supporting his decision to continue this discussion. If you don't want others to comment on your writings to him, I suggest you write to him privately, and not on the public forum.

lol... I joined the debate less than a month ago... perhaps we should stop all debates when you become tired of them

I don't think you understand the point of my contention. After a year this debate hasn't progressed in content. If you would like to keep going in circles by all means do so...

hmm? on the contrary, let the debate continue... when we stop thinking and debating is when we go back to the days of the mindless bedouins of Arabia, who were burying their daughters alive before the Prophet (SWAWM) came. Make no mistake, Islam is a religion of debate.

Whats interesting is that sunnis don't believe in ismat (infallibility) of the Prophet (SWAWM), let alone the Imams (AS), yet believe that the narrators of his sayings and traditions have collected his hadeeth infallibly as Sahih. These two beliefs are contradictory.

And while the shia believe in ismat, and believe the hadeeth were preserved by the Imams (AS) over 12 generations, they still believe that rationally some level of inaccuracy in transmission must have occurred, hence they call their collection of hadeeth Kaafi.

Seems obvious that one collection has been more carefully, rationally, and realistically gathered and analyzed than the other.

Salam,
Ya it is a fact that different schools of thoughts consider different narrators and reporters reliable. But what I fail to understand is why there is vast difference in the opinion that has parted people of one faith. And at the same time the difference clearly challenges painstaking work of one the most important collector of Hadithes-Imam Bukhari, whose sole purpose was to preserve the word and actions of our Prophet. This is considered to be our 2nd source of guidance, so why should we doubt him or his work? This only indicates one thing to me that some of our scholars are wrong because in the matter of Prophet?s actions and teachings there is only one truth and the rest is false.
Once I would again point to the science of Hadith? In the matter of authenticity we find that Iman bukharis classification of hadith clearly illustrates their reliability and chain of authenticity thus leaving no room for argument. He went to great lengths to acquire hadiths. Further more, he pioneered and mastered the methodology of assessing the narrations and sorting out the genuine from the mistaken and fabricated, which unquestionably is now the model for criminal investigation in the UK. And,Ya, it works! Anyways, scholars or people are entitled to their opinion. But we shouldn?t forget it is not merely what we want to hear or believe it is the truth we are seeking.
Regarding Mutah, there is evidence to proof that people practiced mutah during Prophets time just like people consumed alcohol and traded slaves. Alcohol is explicitly prohibited in the Quran. What remains is Mutah and Slave trade. I?am not aware of any Hadith where the Prophet banned slavery, but rather encouraged to free them and in his wisdom it was a move to gradually abolish slavery from the Muslim ummah. I hope all of us agree with me to this point?I?am sure none of us here like slavery or would practice it even though it?s not forbidden in Islam ?explicitly?. Infact the Quran does talk about slavery but no where it does it encourage it. I can provide sahih hadith on this issue but iam afraid some brothers here would find it objectionable. Anyways, carrying on, just like slavery, mutah is not explicitly forbidden in Quran, but it is not motioned nor does any single verse in the Quran point to anything remotely close to the concept of mutah. Some brothers quote the translation from the Quran (4:24) saying the verse below talks about mutah which reads like this:

"...then as to those by whom you benefited (from mut'a), give them their dowries as appointed...."

And here is the version of translation that to me sounds more appropriate

??so with those of whom you have enjoyed sexual relations, given them their mahr as prescribed;..? (in context of marriage of course which is mentioned in the previous part of the verse not quoted here)

Now, you may see the difference in interpretation that manipulates the context of the verse. Some scholars assume Quran is talking about dowry in the context of mutah, although there is no clear or even vague indication of the word mutah or temporary marriage. To further prove my point the Quran talks about marriage and other aspects of marriage in various verses, thus indicating its significance and further disputing this notion of mutah. The Quran by default assumes Marriage to be permanent contract which can only be nullified by divorce, hence it talks about divorce as well. Mutah on the other hand does not deal in the concept of divorce. I would further bolster my argument by mentioning sahih hadith where the Prophet banned mutah but again some may not consider it to be authentic. But they do certainly believe Hazrat Umar banned it which he did but he was only reviving the Prophet?s already prescribed law as he is one of the khulafa ur Rashideen who very well know that it is not in his domain of power to forbid what the Prophet has allowed and allow what the Prophet has forbidden.

What ever correct information I have given comes from Allah and what ever shortcomings my argument has is from myself. May Allah guide us. Ameen.

FareedFury:

Well-respected sunni sources, Tabari in his Tafsir-e-Kabir, part V and Imam Fakhru'd-din Razi in his Tafsir-e-Mafatihu'l-Ghaib, part III, have confirmed that this verse refers to mutah.

Salam,
Asif in his previous post mentioned that the differences among major sects is hadith related. Here is a link which in detail describes how hadithes were acquired, categories of hadith, precautions Imams took in maintaining the authenticity and validity of Hadith.
I couldnt muster up enough strength to read it all, inshallah i will soon. Hope it will be of benefit for ppl here, and help us better understand the deen. www.usc.edu

Khanaseeb ur allegation against Hzrat Umar(RA) of falling into bidah, innovating Taraweeh is serious and shocking. I would consider your allegation baseless 1st because u have provided no daleel (proof) what so ever and second because it contradicts our Prophet ?s (SAW) hadithes. I will directly quote.
?Narrated by Amr bin Al-As The Prophet deputed me to read the Army of Dhat-as-Salasil. I came to him and said, ?Who is the most beloved person to you?? He said, ?Aisha.? I asked, ?Among the men?? He said, ?He father.? I said, ?Who then?? He said, ?Then ?Umar bin al Khttab.? He then named other men?. (Source: Sahih Bukhari)

There are more hadithes I can post in this regards, the point iam trying to make here is how can someone who spent every single day of his life as muslim with the prophet and whom the prophet gave the glad tiding of heaven, one of the khualafa ur Rashideen can fall into Bidah? What ur doing here is slander, brother. Please refrain from such act!

Psychedelic iam directly quoting the translation of Quran (4:24) please point me where it says that mutah is permitted by Allah
?Also (forbidden are) women already married, expect those (captives and slaves) whom your right hands possess. Thus has Allah ordained for you. All others are lawful, provided you seek (them in marriage) with mahr (bridal money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) from your property, desiring chastity, not committing illegal sexual intercourse, so with those of whom you have enjoyed sexual relations, given them their mahr as prescribed; but if after mahr is prescribed, you agree mutually (to give more), there is no sin on you. Surely, Allah is Ever All knowing, All wise?

As far as the act of terrorism goes?.we are again finger pointing, it will lead us no where. Looking at the broader picture, it is muslims killing muslims in the end, which is sad and a serious crime in Islam.

Note: Iam not a part of this village to degrade anyone but to learn and exchange vital religious information that will draw us as better muslims closer together.

Wa salam

MissLondon,

Your analogy of alcohol and mutah does not hold. The prohibition of alcohol was done slowly through the revelation of quranic verses. Mutah was allowed by the Quran (4:24). Mutah was subsequently forbidden by Hazrat Umar. I don't see where Allah comes in there. Did Hazrat Umar receive wahi? Was he qualified to forbid something Allah allowed?
