Nura glad to see you agree with me tonight. I left my previous job because it wasn't rewarding and although I liked what I was doing it became boring and meaningless as time went by. By the way I'll call on you to help manage my wealth after I make my first million I mean billion lol. I'd rather make a billion friends first :)
hey Yarah one likes his/her job not only because they have always wanted, since they were kids, to be an engineer or a dentist but also because it brings about satisfaction and sense of accomplishments. It doesn't matter if you practice 8 hours a day 5 or even 7 days a week, bottom line is your job has to be rewarding. Rewarding is the key word here and rewarding in more than one way. When it stops being rewarding it becomes routine thus boring.
That's neat Amal. Although I'm an engineer by degrees, training and experience I do research in economics mainly G7 economies and corporate merger and acquisitions this is what I teach at the MBA school. My fulltime work is still very much in technology though
I agree that a person should like what s/he's doing but don't you think that no matter how much you like doing something you'll hate it,or at least lose the passion for it,if you have to do it all day, five days a week. I'm a dentist and I'd rather be a part time one eventhough I like what I'm doing.I like working with my hands and interacting with people.I like this expression I hear almost %75 of the time when I meet new patients. Can u tell what would they say??
I'm an agent account executive for a cellular company. it is a mix between area sales manager and a small business consultant. I love what I do, bacause I'm in an office for no more that 8 hours a week...I'm always on the road, but locally. I do some long range travel too, but that is about 1 week a month. the bad part about my job is that it is still sales oriented. I don't sell, but my dealers do, and I'm responsible for them! I always wounder what would have happend if I was an engineer or a doctor, but then I wouldn't be me if I didn't do what I do.
Right now I have an IT company, al hamduliulah it is doing well, and is providing for me and my kids. I do want to go back to my former profession of being a full time Mommy. But that is a luxury I cannt afford anymore.
yeah thats what happened to me...I have my degree in medical lab tech, but once I started my rotation I was bored as heck...Im an active person that needs to be moving around..doing stuff...so right now Im studying to get my ba in elem education so i can be a teacher at an islamic school inshallah :)
Aouicha you are absolutely right. It is very important to enjoy what you do otherwise you will always get the feeling to move on to a different job every few months. This is what they call here in the US job hoping.
Laila, that's what all Arabs say when they work for the federal government but why should we believe you? LOL J/K
It is very important to feel good in your job. My fear is getting bored in my work... cause i've seen during my work placement that sometimes i do the same things everytime...preparing a show, dealing with customers etc... it is always the same even if the show places are different and i don t deal with the same customers but anyway, i fear of that...
ok seriously, I'm a Database Administrator for a very big Internet company. I honestly never thought of IT in college I only took a few classes and thought this stuff is boring. It's very different in the real world when you're the architect of an online application and see your work in action. That's very cool stuff ;-)
i am still studying, now i am finishing them by a workplacement and inshallah, after summer hollydays, i will have to look for a job as exports manager, or just starting by assisting the export manager to start...i have to say bye bye to my student life:(
Iwork for the federal government. No , I'm not sitting in a basement somewhere translating FBI documents, like many people think. I'm in the social work/helping people get benefits field.
