when can u accept a lie?
most people hate it when someone just lie on their face.... however, could it be an excuse for lying?
then you need to practice. because there are days when both of u had to argue.
in general. it's hard for a woman to forget when her emotion is being hurt. i understand that. however life need to keep going.
if she done a mistake... and then she regret it, and apologize, then forgive and forget and let it go.
i can't forget a favor done to me, but i do have short memory when it comes to arguing/fight between me and someone. so whoever will marry me is lucky :) , because after 1-2 weeks i will not be able to remember the fight unless ur remind me of it. :)
yeah, I agree hossam, obviously you gotta see if your decision was wrong but...she still shouldnt have lied, ya3ni if she thought it was unfair, wouldnt the right thing be to come and tell you first?
yah .. i don't recommend lying in that matter. as it will lead to more problems and less trust..
what i will do?
i will show her that i am upset about what happend and explain to her my reasons again of why i don't want her to talk to that person from the beginning.
i will listen to her arguing/reasons of why she did this. and will compare it with my reasons. if i realized that my reasons are more stronger than her then she must respect my word when i asked to stay away from that person or i will be mad.
and if her reasons were more stronger than mine, then i will adjust a solution to the problem so it can satisfy both of us.
great point shohob. It automatically makes it seem that much worse because it is done behind your back right? makes you wonder what she's trying to hide!
Ok, but what would you do?
so i am bringing up the issue again, but lets say you told your wife not to do something, and she did it behind your back, "in good intention" but then when you find out, she lies more to cover her tracks...how would you approach this situation. Lets take it a bit further and say, you told her not to talk to someone in specefic, but she went ahead anyway. what do ya'll think?
hossam, the example you used, although I understand the husband is trying to make the wife feel better about her fathers death, but I see it as a weakness that he has to lie to do that. Is there no other way to make her feel better other than lying?
I can somewhat see your point more in the second example, obviously if being honest in this situation would cause the wife more harm then you shouldn't, but at the same time, I feel he can get around being blatantly honest without actually resorting to llying. I just put myself in that situation, and if I asked my husband directly and he lied, I really wouldnt like it. No matter what the reason for the lie was.
aya. i kinda got ur point. i wouldn't lie to my wife about something like that, if i don't like what she is wearing i will let her know.
but let me give u an example of a lie that may release stress...
say there is a woman her dad just died recently. she was in very bad condition. so for her husband to calm her down he had to lie to her by telling her .."ur dad came to me in my dream and he was laughing and smiling to me... he seems happy there. "
or if a doctor told me ur wife have a deadly disease but don't tell ur wife as negative reaction could lead to the worse. should i tell her the truth or should I lie about it?
if my wife asks me this question, I will know that this is an unlucky day, I will say 10 times este'3far before I answer. it is a lose lose situation, this is a time when a doctor would want his beeper to go off.
hossam, to answer your question, I think you can try to be as nice as you can about it, but definetly dont lie either, honesty would actually help that person out in the end. For example, your wife asks you if she looks fat in a pair of pants...she does, you lie. She's gonna walk out looking like that. You should be nice about it, but still get the point across that she has other better fitting clothes etc...
sometimes parents lie to very small children for their own good... of course I think it's better to avoid when you can, but in certain situations you have to, I guess.
I can't think of a situation where I personally would accept lying between two grown adults, though. But I did hear a guy talking on TV one time about how Islamically, there are three instances when it is OK to lie. One is when you are trying to mend ties between two people, but I can't remember the other two for absolute sure, so I'm not going to guess. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

and I agree about the embarrassing situation- If it's something personal that doesn't concern me, I probably would not get upset over a lie.
