Where are we now?
What are you up to now? What have you done with your life???
I'll start, since I like to be first.
I was in my last year of University when I joined IRC. I graduated in April of 1995, and have been working ever since. Have you heard of Sylvan Learning Centre? I am a District Manager for 3 Centres, so I do get to boss people around. I like what I do. I'm still single, and still feel like I'm the oldest person around here. Single not by choice but by circumstance. Sometimes we're thrown curveballs and there is nothing you can do. Things are slowly getting better for me, so I just think positive and am thankful I'm alive. I take one day at a time.
One of my brothers (I have 2 older ones) got married, and he has a daughter, Mariam, who will be 3 September 4. Mashallah she is sooooooo bright. "Birds go to Flordida (not FloRida) in winter...Don't be scared, silly, it's just thunder...That's not a camel...it's a dormitory...Abu, are you disappointed?" I can go on and on...He also has a son, Mazzen, who will be 1 December 10.
My Dad had a triple bypass last summer, and decided that he'd take off to Pakistan. He's been there since March in the pind, and won't be back until end of August. He bought his ticket first and then decided to doublecheck with his doctor if it was okay to go.
My mom has had a rough 2 years. Her brother, who was only 34, died and left behind a little girl and his wife of 5 years. She went to Pakistan to take my NaaniAppa for Hajj since my dad thought it would left her spirits to go, but that fell through since the Pakistani gov't wouldn't issue Hajj visas...and she got back here 2 days late so she got laid off. Damn union and damn lawyers were no help.
Goodness, why am I telling you all this??? You don't even know my family!
:)
