Which hand?
Imagine using your right hand to wash you-know-what. I wonder if anyone out there actually does that
paradise, that is soo ocd :)i think all that rugring with soap could trigger some sort of allergic reaction or rash later and that wouldn't be fun esp. in that region! Lota+tp is fine i think.
in india/pakistan depending on the time of the year it may be warm enough that the water evaporates quickly (plus alot of people wear loose clothing that facilitates it).
in america its more mild, so the same processes don't work.
I was wondering...do all of you dry yourselves off with toilet paper after using the lota? I believe that it is a must. It would be disgusting to have to walk around in damp underwear or with water dripping down your legs after using the bathroom. However, the majority of the people in India don't dry themselves with toilet paper after using the lota. (I was there recently, so I know this for sure.) Its so gross....ugh.
using liquid soap isn't such a bad idea ...but the thing is, you'd only have the convenience of using it at home and not in other places
but hey, who says you have to touch fecal matter with your left hand ...use tissue to start off with and finish off with water ...it should work just as well ...or, like someone suggested in a previous journal, you can use disposable gloves while washing your bum ...but i personally wouldn't do that either because gloves stink and err ...its just not right :|
since i just installed a "handy-spray" in my brother's home today and we had a very enlightening discussion about the aesthetics of the "handy-sprays" location for about 10 minutes, toodledoo's comments seem refreshingly current and accurate.
you're a lota visionary, and akbar bakwaswalah salutes u.
I would use a small bottle of antibacterial liquid shop that I keep specifically for that purpose. I would pour a small amount of the soap on my left hand after using the lota to get my a$$ wet. Then I would wash my a$$ in the same way that I do in the shower, but more quickly, and rinse the soap off as I use the lota. Then I would simply wash my hands thoroughly with a DIFFERENT all-purpose antibacterial liquid soap that I keep near my bathroom sink. This is the process that I would only do at my own home, since I have my own bathroom that I do not share with anyone else. I just do not like the idea of touching fecal matter with just water and not soap. Ugh! And as for non-Muslims who use just toilet paper.....a lot of non-Muslim women have started using flushable moist wipes, which is much cleaner, quicker, easier and sanitary then sitting down on the toilet and touching yourself down there with unwashed hands randomly in the middle of the day, getting yourself all wet so that unclean water drips down your thighs, gets your underwear and pants all wet, , and then not even drying yourself off after wards! Yuck!
lol toodledoo..i certainly got it..yeah the goras here dont use water..imagine the rashes they would get it wiping it with toilet paper all the time..:)
You guys ...using soap and water isn't a possibility ...its just too messy!
okay, for people who use their right hand ...they probably struggle with the shower thingy in the washroom because its usually on the right hand side ..err ...did that make sense ...oh well :P
