Who knows... except Allah...
It was Wednesday morning and like any other day I was getting ready to go to work, my head full of ideas and inspirations of new 'stuff' I had learnt on the previous days training course ready to share with my colleagues...
But do we know whats just round the corner?
A few minutes after setting off, I was on the dual carriageway when suddenly a white car merged from the slip road at a speed much slower than my own...
The logical thing to do was overtake but there was no gap in the second lane... the horror I faced ahead was getting closer by the second... Did I have choice?? No ... whether I braked hard or not I was definetely going to hit the white car and perhaps even injure the driver... I really wanted to avoid an accident!
I panicked, I swerved, I skidded off the road to the left, hitting a lampost, my car turning upside down on the nearby field and Allah knows what else... It was like a dream, actually more like a nightmare...
I opened my eyes some time later to find a shattered windscreen and surrounded by strange people asking me where I was hurt and attempting to keep an oxygen mask on my face... My immediate thought was 'Oh God, is this really happening?'
The next thing I remember is in A& E, being checked for injuries to my neck, back and rest of my body...
I lay there, helpless not wanting to hear the worst and at this point I wished that this was a dream... one where I would soon wake up... to start getting ready for work...
I breathed a sigh of relief when I was told that I hadn't broken anything, I had concussion and cuts to my head and this had also resulted in double vision...
Someone had called my dad and my first words to him were 'Dad I smashed up my car!' Isnt it funny that even as 32 year old independent woman, I feel that my actions need to be explained to my father, almost in an apologetic manner? His response was 'dont worry about the car, are you hurt?'
Laila(Missy), you were amongst the first people that came to see me at the hospital and I will always remember that... In the short time since I have known you, you have been a wonderful friend and as close as my own sisters...
I am thankfull to Allah and lucky to be here to share the tale with all my brothers and sisters on the one and only LONDON CREW! Love and peace to you all - Be happy and always follow your dreams - who knows whats round the corner???
