Who would you vote for?

Assuming an honest multi-candidate election will be held in Egypt, who would you vote for and why?

Aljazeera website had run this poll with a bit of a surprising result for me (18% for Mubarak)

Your choices:
Hosni Mubarak
Essam El Eryan
Ayman Nour
Amr Mousa
Other?

Check this funny link I just came across! www.alltogether.or.kr

Well, my choice for Amr Mousa not only coz he's sharing my first name :) but also coz he has a deep experience in political matters especially when he was a minister of foreign affairs. Plus he's so popular respectful person...

Amr, any reason other than him sharing your first name? :-) Amr Mousa is a popular character. I know little about him, but he seems to be respectful. I had read that a group in Egypt wanted to nominate him, but he had no comment. Either he's not interested, or his current role does not allow him to split against Mubarak.

Aya, yes, it's hilarious! :-) I still can't believe it though! BTW, do you have any relatives to nominate? Pfunkie and Allulti are coming up with really strong candidates. It seems like it's going to be a difficult race! Pfunkie and Allulti.. what qualifications do your aunts have?

Gigo, you seem to have some catching up to do with news/rumors from Egypt. :-) People in Egypt now don't hear anything about Alaa Mubarak. Why? It's said that Rabbena hadaah and his wife after listening to Amr Khaled and they both left everything behind and followed him to the UK based on a request by Mubarak the father. Not sure how true all this is though. And no, from the few things I read in the news about Gamal Mubarak and what he says, he doesn't seem to be fair. He also seems to be taking advantage of being the president's son rather than rejecting or at least abandoning the political corruption that's going on. But you're right in a way, the biggest part of people's rejection to him is mainly because of his name.

Aya hanem, balash pessimism! :-) insha'Allah someone will do something. I can't remember his name, but yes, Muafez Alexandria may be a good candidate. Kefaya if nobody honks in the streets of Cairo! But seriously, I don't know his background, he may not have foreign policy experience, which, as Gigo said, is an important factor.

I like Amr Mousa but who knows if anyone will do anything anyway...Hany what is the name of the muhafez in alexandria? maybe he should run...if he can do what he did there to all of Egypt, i think that would be a good start!! heh

Allulti, how about Gamal Mubarak? ;-)

Gigo, so you don't know who to vote for?

BTW, Ayman Nour's popularity has been declining since the US showed support for him when Rice cancelled her Egypt trip to pressure Mubarak to get him out of jail. So, people now think he's a US agent. In Aljazeera's poll El Eryan got a whopping 40% versus 13% for Nour.

Oh, I hope that people get the joke in the picture! I'm not campaigning for Mubarak or anything! :-) I'm sure many have seen it before, but for those who didn't, read the whole banner. If you can't read Arabic, let me know.
