Why do girls in relationships fall off the face of the planet?

It seems as though men in relationships manage to maintain their other friendships, while women find their social needs curbed by their significant other. Why?

I'm sure there is some natural, biological, female vs. male component to the explanation of such behavior. But, the question is: Why don't women realize that they make themselves boring by compromising their individuality, and as a result their significant other begins to lose interest in them? Not only that, but once the relationship hits a tough spot, they run to their single girlfriends for support without thinking about how they failed to be there for them.

**Just a general observation. I'm not saying all females are like this.

dunno about hot swampy climates but girls tend to not have a problem about sharing a bed. men on the other hand go to great lengths to avoid it. i know some of my male friends who have placed pillows down the middle of the bed, dividing it into two for their own section. women don't need to resort to such physical barriers. as far as snoring goes, that would be it for me. i'd rather go and sleep somewhere else. i can't even stand a clock ticking - snoring would drive me nuts

ok i was raised in a hot as hell, damnp, humid swampy island. I don;t sleep dressed. am i excused from sharing a bed? if i was a girl raised on the same mosquito pit, do i get my own bed? and what happens to those who snore? this is all very intriguing to me. please inform.

the dress code is to be dressed! and only 2 ppl share a bed at a time. this is not one of those clown-car-phenomena where u try to see how many people can fit? ppl are just trying to get some sleep. sharing a bed is not a preference, just a compromise in lieu of forcing one person to sleep on the floor.

then weeks or months into their marriages, you have women who rediscover/remember they had friends once upon a time. and by then, these friends have grown accustomed to living their lives w/o this woman (and realize hubby+wife must have gotten sick of each other, at least for the time-being)...eh

Manas: This is a great topic...I seriously dont understand either why we women end up talking about men all the time with our women friends...it can be irritating actually. And on top of that, when we are dating or when we are married, we start to associate more with our bf or spouses friends...I still dont get it! My friends who have boyfriends, fiance or husbands, they tend to spend less time with their girlfriends....I hope I can keep a balance b/w my friends and my husband.

this sharing a bed thing sounds promising though... how many ppl would wyou say can share a bed at one time? is there a dress code? what happens when someone has to get up? doesn't the shaking bed annoy you? what about snoreres? are they exiled?

i sit with my arms outstreached, in class, in movie theaters, in the car, they are streched to the sides. When i'm eating or i need them infront of me , when i'm typing when i'm writting etc. they'll be where they are needed, but when their manipulatory abilities are not called for, i give them a good stretch, get comfy kick up my legs and flay my arms like i'm being crucified. if someone is next to me, i don't do this, cause i understand it can be annoying. so i sit apart. i sit with a seat between me and notehr person my classes, and even when i go out to eat, i try to get to the side of the table with fewest people. in the movie theater, i take a wide berth.

the person next to me can be a boy or a girl, i will still avoid them unless i intend to put my art around them. and if the person next to me wants to strech out too, then his/her arm will be over mine, an uncomfortabl position for whomever's arm is underneath (plus what if he's a sweaty guy, nasty)

lol. girls share beds outside of those naughty movies. b/c they are secure about their sexuality and don't feel threatened. thank you again!

#1) how likely is it that guys stretch their arms out at the same time? a little adjustment to lean forward or back for a few seconds while one stretches their arms is not a grave inconvenience. #2) the fact that guys cannot bear the idea of slightly touching another male for a fraction of a second based on the fact that it was a result of a random, uncalculated reflex.........gives credence to homophobia. thank you!

homophobic? whats homophobic about wanting to streach out a bit? and if two guys are sitting next to each other, and they both want to streach their arms out, each will have his arms over the others. very annoying.
=================================== =========================== close girlfriends share a bed? really? i thought that was just in the naughty movies.

Plato, it's not about geographical location. the problem is that some women are just bad at returning friends' phone calls or listening to friends' problems once they're hitched. also, some women aren't even married to the guy....they're still in the getting-to-know-each-other phase, which makes the whole thing even stupider.

BvSl, I agree with that. that's the problem....that women seem to desire to get close to whoever's around them. same reason why they latch onto a significant other...b/c he's around them the most. the other reason they discuss their relationship issues so much is b/c it's the only freaking thing on their mind!! women allow a relationship to consume them completely, which makes them undesirable as long-term partners. they lose sight of a healthy sense of individuality.

CF, I think guys are also homo-phobic. i think they're soooooo homophobic, that they're scared of being even remotely suspected of being homo..... another reason to distance themselves. two close girlfriends never have a problem sharing a bed. guys on the other hand...

Candy, I feel your pain! I think women genuinely become busier after they're married, but it's the issue of WANTING to make time for people that were once there for you. Some women are good about it while others don't care. What really irks me is when a girl who is only getting to know the guy.......be it for the past 3 months or the past 3 years.......and has absolutely no commitment from the guy, compromises her social life for the sake of relationship with a possibility of no future.

i know some guys who all they talk about is relationships. i know we are generalizing here, and guys are less likely to talk about it than girls. but of all my friends, male or female, i can think of 2 guys and 0 girls who talk of little or nothing else. so this is one of those "yeah people say it, but i've never seen it" things for me.

after some of my female couzins got married they moved and where gone, after others got hitched they didn't move and instead i started haning out with their new husbands and we became friends, the difference is - the second group is still close to home base. it's usually the girl that moves in with the guy so her old friends are farther away. i don't know could this be it?

manas, i do that movie theater seat thing w/ my friends too, o get uncomfortable if i'm crowded in like that, and i like having a place to streach my arms. it's just better that way

I dont agree that all women drop off the face of the planet after getting hitched or in a relationship. I have 5 really good friends and all are married, each of them I speak to on a weekly or biweekly basis. We always make the time for each other. A couple of them have small kids too. I still get together w/ them also. Its all about them and yourself making the effort.
