Why Salafi vs. Sufi?


Asalaamu alaikum.
I've read many posts in this village, and I'm having trouble understanding the purpose of this village. If it's to foster intra-faith understanding, the Manichean tone of many posts is troubling, and would seem to lean in the opposite direction. If the goal is to win one side over to the other, the bad reasoning and verbal bullying I've seen wouldn't be the most inviting tactic I can think of. If it's to try to win over the undecided, I can only imagine fear and ignorance being motivating factors for those who would choose based upon what's offered here. The very fact that the village is entitled "Salafi VS. Sufi" is indicative of the deeply problematic divisions that plague Muslims in general and are reflected in this village. I'm not challenging your right to exist; I'd just like to know the reasoning behind this approach.

I'm not delicate in any sense of the word, but it does seem to me that you aim is not to invite people to your idea of the truth, but to harass people to the point where only thugs would find your point of view appealing. You've also veered off the topic somewhat with interfaith compromises, this discussion was far more about INTRAFAITH cohesion. unless you wish to engage in takfir, a rather dangerous pastime.
"Invite to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for your Lord knows best who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance."
It seems that you choose not to take advantage of the advice given in this verse. Why?

nakia... becuase its comes down to ENJOINING THE GOOD and FORBIDDING THE EVIL.

I realize that you part MWU and what but according to ISlam, we dont have interfaith compromises.

You may want to leave since this village is for people who will defend the truth and it may come down with bold words, and nothign sugar coated.

Leharz, I'd like to apologize for nearly sinking to his level. The reason why I posted this JE is to inquire about the approach taken in many other JE's and replies is puzzling to me, especially if the goal is to win people over. Can you help me with this?

Silky, you have my deepest sympathies. I fear none but Allah, which is wonderfully freeing. You seem to fear a great many things. Your world must be a sad one. You still have no answer to the topic's questions. Is it because you are afraid of what the answers might be? Or are you afraid that the questions themselves might shatter your small, fearful bubble?

First of all, the founding brother of the village has indeed erred by putting the 'vs', but he was still being realistic: there is a serious split that reaches 'takfeer' between the two.
