Wicked
Any of you seen Wicked?
I saw it at the Gershwin theatre last night. It was SO good! I've been wanting to see it for the past 2 years & I missed the tour in my state so my friend & I got tickets for NY. It was nearly impossible to find tickets too; the show sells out so quickly...and we were looking in November.
Anyhow, if you haven't heard of it, it's a Broadway musical on Gregory Maguire's book, Wicked: The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. Even if you haven't read the book, you'd still be able to follow the plot as it's just a different POV of the Wizard of Oz. I have to say I was really excited to see the show because I loved the book & I love the Wizard of Oz. I was scared that I was getting my hopes up very high even with all the good reviews, but wow, the show was 500% better than I was expecting.
It takes some slight creative liberty from the book but overall, it follows the story quite well. Elphaba is such an enjoyable character; it's odd to be rooting for the witch. Galinda is HILARIOUS. She always drove me nuts in the W.O.Z. but she's fabulous in the play. It's definitely a soundtrack worth buying!
Anyone else have any thoughts on the show There's a sequel as well Son of a Witch.
