We all know the World Cup is starting in about a month.
So lets hear what everyones predictions are.

The voting for best player ended in half time. teh way it should be looked at is even after the red card zidane remained well on top. period.
looking ahead, this will NOT tarnish his career one bit. au contraire, it will win him more fans and respect even from thsie who didnt know much abt zidane.

Ribery converted to Islam when he married an algerian immigrant and changed his name from Franck to Bilal. He grew up in the same tough city of Marseille as Zidane and is tipped to take the spot of the magician. he only had abt 2 or 3 games before teh W.Cup. hes only 23 or 22
my friend, you misunderstood my point. I'm just saying that contrary to what YOU mentioned b4, voting did NOT stop b4 the final match, and you also said that if voting had continued after the final, Zidane most likely would not even have been considered.
All I'm saying is that despite his red card, Zidane still won in the end, even if Canavaro was trailing close.
Anyways, we're both Zidane fans right ....so we cool right, so let's drop it now:)

Although enough has been said on the Zidane topic, just wanted to provide some clarification :)....So, as you stated that the, "player of the tournment was chosen through a poll of journalist wch took place b4 the final game and i can bet if it would have been done after the final Zidane wudnt be even considered...."
Well, in actuality the Best Player Award was chosen AFTER the Final match.

This goes to show that Zidane was considered in his entirety, and not judged on a single thoughtless act on his part.

zidane did MUCH MORE THAN maradona. won w world cup, went to teh final and beat the great of greater teams. oh, he also has more champions league titles than maradona did... dont bet me wrong, maradona. was unique in many ways...but in terms of TITLES and RESULTS... zidane ALWAYS delivered in the BIG GAMES.
AND MOST OF ALL, anyone who sees zdiane talk, his disarming modesty and quiet demeanor, his simplicity makes everybody loves him. on the field, he NEVER EVER fakes an injury, never play act or provokes opponennts. and teh soccer audiences of today are well too educated to not ignore this and will always remember what an amazing person he is on and off the pitch.

I hate it when a game is decided by penalty kicks, it was obvious that France was missing it's three best takers(Zidane, Ribery, Henry), they didn't stand a chance against the Italians in PK's.
Man, it's too bad i discovered this village at the END of the World Cup:)
Overall I think a fair result, given the very dubious penalty awarded to France in the opening few minutes. France played really well in the 2nd half with Henry everywhere but then faded in extra time.
With the World cup over, I'll have to reavaluate my work calendar now that I have all this free time. :)

The French were playing good football though....great attacks...I think Buffon defended against them...esp that one head shot by Zidane and deserves great credit......they almost had it then...
