Worst song on Achtung
Seriously, Achtung rules.
When they were coming out with greatest hits of the 90's, I was thinking......Stay, Please, Lemon, Discotech, and all of Achtung Baby.
Which do you think is the worst of the great?

Saief: Man, I totally wrote this dissertation the other day about my feelings on Who?s Gonna Ride your Wild Horses and the computer froze on me while I was posting it. The jist of that post was that I don't particularly like the version on the album as much as the single version. It's one of the best written songs ever; but from where I'm standing, a lot of the best songs ever are on Achtung. Still, it's easier for me to pick that song over a lot of others as the worst on the album (I still pretty much stick with Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Around the World as the worst). As for choosing a best song on that album, it's way harder than throwing out a pick for worst. All the songs I haven't mentioned has lightened my burdened soul during different moments.
zoo station rules. ready for the shuffle, ready for the deal, ready to let go of the stearing wheel; I'm ready for whats next.
Great energy. its their announcement that things are no longer the same. as they put it, its the sound of 4 men chopping down the joshua tree.
What are your thoughts on city of blinding lights?
i get the feel he's talking about a sort of heavan...as if he's achieved some sort of undefeatable mindset he's equating with heavan. advertising in the skies.....the invulnerability to time he later eludes to......and the melody sounds so happy and victorious.
the bit about how 'time wont leave me as i am, but time wont take the boy out of this man'......classic bono.
probably not relevant, but it is positioned shortly after the ode to his late father on the album.
Im ready, im ready for the laughing gas....
love that line
As for the worst Achtung Baby song, I don?t think I will ever get used to ZooStation. The electrifying EDGE augmentation that they toyed with in this album appeared successful in tracks like ?The Fly? or ?Ultra Violet?. IMO, these two are awesome tracks because they were the end product of a successful marriage between the traditional u2 sound and the new EDGE experiment with the 90s. ZooStation on the other hand, appeared as a total divorce from the u2 tradition. Nevertheless, Achtung Baby remains one of my favorite U2 album and ?So Curel? is my favorite track of this album.
?Desparation is a tender trap
It gets you every time
You put your lips to her lips
To stop the lie?
Kani: you'd pick "who's gonna ride your wild horses" you're kidding me right?! That has to be one of their most passionate, heart-wrenching songs... :(
Plus, we are asking for the worst song on that one album. I can't get on-board with Mysterious Ways as the pic. I might consider the version of Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses that's on the album. But I'd feel a lot more guilty about that pick.
im with elusive bird, i love the song. cant help but smile when i hear the pleasant reverberating tone at the outset of the song.
"I dreamed that I saw Dalai with supermarket trolley, he was trying to throw his arms around a girl"
I think in that line he's depicting the end of the world----when a Buddhist monk, who's supposed to believe in impermanence and non-attatchment, is clinging on to something as commercial as a supermarket trolley, or is trying to fulfill his desire with a girl. udunknow. lol
Without conceding that Achtung isn't the best album ever, I think I liked Zooropa all the way through. From where I'm standing, that experiment was more of a success than not.
Finally, Playboy Mansion's alright; it's Wake Up Dead Man that I can't stand!
Zooropa though....the latter half is subpar i'd say (considering the par is u2 here).....daddy's gonna pay...dirty day, some days are better than others, i dont really like numb all that much
