Would you go back?
For the village members who know Egypt pretty well, and might have even lived there before...if there is an opportunity to return to Egypt...would you go back?
What are the pros and cons to consider?
Would it be a nightmare as many think...or is it doeable?
What would it take to make a smooth transition back after being away for so long?
I know that 99.9999 % of the village members grew up in the States or it seems like...but if anyone has a thought about this issue, I'd love to hear it insha'Allah as it would be most helpful :)
Thank you..

Thank you for your point of view..it makes sense of course...because with the difficulties in Egypt, "money talks" and helps save the day. Also, whenever I bring the subject up, everyone says that to be able to live in Egypt again, you have to be well-to-do. Thus,...there is definitely truth to this. HOWEVER...I just think that it's very very very very sad that our country has come down to this. That materialism is the first thought that we worry about whenever the thought of going back comes up, even with my own family.
Maybe this is not realistic,...but what if one can't live in that level....isn't it enough to consider the values that only come from living in Egypt.....such as sensing, and feeling, and absorbing the subtleties of humanity and family...feeling alive and connected to others?
I know life is very tough there without money...I saw that for myself...but rizq is in Allah's hand...I personally know of some people here in the States and are having a hard time financially. How about Uncle Sam's chunk of taxes? How about the atrocious things that we hear some community members fall into as a result of being mixed up by growing up here. For the sake of anonymity, I won't mention some real, heart-breaking stories...one I never would have imagined.
I just think that both countries have their share of pros and cons and it's a matter of where our priorities lie. Maybe I'm just more sentimental when it comes to Egypt that it makes me overlook the very real and negative aspects of living in it...I don't know...
Thank you for following this long post :)
everyone there makes me feel like i can't cross the street by myself cuz "i'm not used to it"...it's like i've become 4 again...and as much as it sucks to aadmit, but egypt isn't exactly the cleanest place too, like masrawaya said about "nezam" too
and it's weird cuz the basic things u don't think about like easier customer service, easier/cheaper accessories in our every day lives would be so much harder to have in egypt.
i really wish i could find a nice international job between here and there....that would be cool.
and it's weird cuz my family always calls me crazy for feelin that way when i say i want to go back, sigh...
Thank you for bringing this topic to my attention. I enjoyed reading the different responses. It's hard to decide, but I have come to the conclusion that Allah will lead us to the place where He katab 3alena to be in for wise reasons that Allah knows. I want to be realistic and acknowledge the problems that exist in Egypt, nonetheless, I can't help but agree with the comment that said:
"ALLAH is the one who provides the opportunity, not the IS government, not the greater freedom in this country, but ALLAH is the one who provides the opportunity. I have seen people in Egyt very succesful in bringing the Ummah together and helping people think independantly. My point is that we should stop thinking of the US as the country that we are safe in and that this is the only place where we can have a decent lifestyle."
In the end..Egypt or America or el marikh :), el mohem to try to live in a way that would please Allah insha'Allah..
Thank you again...
"Will you spend your life in Egypt or america?"
