Yuko Japanese Thermal Reconditioning


I was thinking of getting this treatment done which permanently straightens the hair for up to 6-9 months.

Just wanted to know if anyone had it done before and what the results were? Is it really that damaging like some people say it is?

Nidz, i think most salons or atleast good/reputable salons would do the thermal reconditioning....its so common now. But i would go to one which is well known for doing it and not those old skool kinda chemical relaxers some places use. If you don't wanna commit to something for that long of a period and would rather try something temporary, L'oreal x-tenso i believe its called does the same thing but lasts 3 to 4 months.

And Kajol, i heard ppl with super curly hair don't achieve as good as results..but i may be wrong.

I've heard of the "helmet" effect you girls mentioned.. as it grows out you ahve to flatiron the roots every day.

Would this treatment work on super curly hair like mine?

And I've heard there are some good places in San Jose, vietnamese or japanese but don't know the names.

Can anyone recommend where to get this thermal reconditioning done from? I'm seriously tired of flat ironing it every single day! I think i'm damaging it more this way.

Nope, didn't have to blow dary or flat iron my hair... which was the best thing... Depending on the thickness of your hair follicles, straightening hair could look too fake but I'd recommend that you try it out atleast once...after all its only hair and it'll grow back. Plus this procedure turned out to be very healthy for my hair but remember to get the protein treatment prior to getting this done... Hope its not too expensive, I have to fork out $600 because of the thickness and lenght of my hair, but it was all worth it. May do it again over the winter :)

Wow gurl!! you got some long locks mashallah...lol. I wish my hair was that healthy :- but yea i;ve heard the same thing that once the roots start growing out its wavier than the rest of the hair that's been chemically straightened..which defeats the purpose of getting it done cause my hair grows fast too. But i guess its worth it...

Just one more thing, did you still have to blow-dry or flat- iron your hair straight even after getting this procedure done, or would you just let it dry naturally and it would remain straight?

I have a slight wave in my hair and so opted to try this out mid last year. Ask for a protein treatment before they put any chemicals in your hair. I got compliments about my hair all the time!!! I grew it out to my waist (my hair grows way fast) and then decided I wanted a different look so chopped off about 9 inches last weekend. I also noticed that the hair growing out from the roots were much more curlier than my natural hair... just hoping this isn't a side effect from the chemicals... in any case I would highly recommend a consultation with an experienced professional who will be able to tell you if your a good candidate for the procedure... good luck!!!1

Hey...yeah for sure...let me know how it turns out! I hear you tho..it takes me about an hour to flat iron my hair cuz my hair is pretty thick so cutting down on that time would be great!

thx, i think i might just give it a go then...so i'll let you know how it turns out. And i hear ya gurl, i've got slightly wavy hair which seems to be the look for spring/summer but i prefer that sleek straight look...it just looks shinier and cuts down on styling time so i dont have to use my flat iron every other day.

I've never had it done but my friend gets it done once a year and her hair looks amazing!! Super silky and straight. According to her, it doesn't damage it much...maybe just as much as straightening your hair on a regular basis. I am still too scared to do it tho! Plus I like the wavy/curly look for a change...
