Salam folks, its been a while since my last posting here on the village...as its been a bizzy month. Inspired by Suhaib's popular beef ribs entry...this one will focus on zabiha foods at popular places. There are a lot of zabiha friendly places and entrees all over Chicago and I figured that we can share our favorites so that we have more options when we are out and about. Check metromix.com for prices and exact locations..this is just a short list of my regularly visited places, please elaborate with your own experiences:

Hard Rock Cafe - THE BEST Garden burger ever!

Old Jerusalem - Kefta, Shwerma, Chicken & Hummus which doesnt disappoint

Kabul House - Zabiha chicken, beef and lamb to die for

Bluewater Grille - sesame crusted tuna to die for!

Masck - A very good tuna steak and an AWESOME crab cake

Weber Grille - An even BETTER tuna steak

Ben Pao - Sesame crusted Salmon - yummm/ Best Crab Rangoon in the city

Rockbottom - Portabello Mushroom sandwhich that rocks!

Wildfire - Chilean Sea Bass that will melt in your mouth!

Rezas - Um we all know the Chicken Koubideh and the Chengeh are gonna be served in heaven.

Carmines - Mushroom stuffed ravioli is a great meat substitute

Ghareeb Nawaz on Devon is VERY cheap and also really good. Go for the food, not the environment.

Now that we've moved to Devon places. HFC's fried chicken rules!

If its on Devon and its spicy, its probably Jumbo. A bunch of us went there a long time ago for the very first time (now its a regular place for us) and they made the food spicy and most of my friends couldn't handle it. You have to specifically tell them how you want the food made and they're pretty good about going easy on the spice if you ask them. Their sweet and sour chicken is actually not spicy at all. Maybe that'll work better for you though you're sick of Chinese and Thai.

Yeah, I have been to a Muslim Chinese place with my boss and and some other peeps. They made the food sooooo freakin spicey, it was actually difficult to eat. I forgot the name of the place but I know it was on Devon and something. I'm sort of sick of Chinese and Thai, I have it it way too many times.

How about we throw it over to Muslim Chinese, Hot Wok and Jumbo come to mind, but I hear there are definitely more, anyone care to elaborate?

Maybe I'll try that place. I love Thai!

Cant believe I left out VTK earlier, Ok before the summer is over, VONGS THAI KITCHEN, they have red curry shrimp that rocks and yellow curry vegetables YUMMM try it, try it NOWWWWW...tgif!

Cool! My mom bought a bunch of redsnappers and cooked them in desi masala which came out pretty tasty. I got pretty sick of it though...LOL Maybe we can try cooking it in cajun masala too. :)

Moondreamer - I can't remember the name of that particular restaurant with the giant crabs.. I'll let you know if I find out.. my favorite seafood is blackened red snapper

Smak90210 - my crab story is NOT a lie.. clearly it was confirmed by your ex wife ronin and that was on TWO separate occasions...

Area51, Which restaurant in Boston's Chinatown ? I was in Boston last year around March to visit some buddies, and we went to Chinatown for some food. Hey If I'm there again I wouldn't mind going for some good crab because Boston has great seafood altogether.

HANAa: no more chicken mcnuggets for you! AREA: your giant crab story is a lie, as it has never been confirmed by anyone else.

Controversy always helps....Ravi kabob house pronounced (RAAAVI) has kabob/frontier chicken rolls that melt in your mouth...yah DEVON rocks...right muniza?...lol

There's a place in Boston's chinatown that has these GIANT crabs.. i went in there and I wasn't sure if I was ordering crab or if the crab was ordering me.

My friends and I went to Baba's Palace the other night and eventhough it is famous for being a taxi-cab joint, the clientele has changed, they have an eating area that is more family/women oriented and the entire menu is zabiha and I must say pretty delicious!!

Au Bon Pain comes through with new Zabiha friendly food items, for one their famous soups come with V symbol for purely vegetable soups in vegeatable stock, the best of which is Green corn chili bisque, honorable mentions go to Curried Lentil, Three bean chili and more. Also they have added tuna melts and a portabello and goat cheese sandwhich to the mix! TRY IT OUT!

Anytime MissChe, soooo soooo sad you'll be missing ISNA...congrats on the sisters wedding and I just may take up your invite for fight club.... =)
