Hazrat Omar Khayyam has always had an appeal that emerges from an outlook of life that is in many ways in contrast with the conventional views held by many members of the monotheistic faiths. Though the man remains a mystery and his Rubaiyat were only discovered by chance, we can gauge much from these quatrains.

Each person has his or her own individual interpretations. Many following the Sufi paths claim Hazrat Omar Khayyam was in effect a Sufi but conventional wisdom ? particularly in the West ? has turned him out to be one who only sought pleasure. Perhaps they are correct. Or perhaps Hazrat Omar Khayyam was indeed giving primacy to the life of this world and did not put much stock in the after life.

Whatever the case, one thing is hard to deny. And that is Hazrat Omar Khayyam througout his quatrains invokes us about the value of time. Time as the most precious gift for this life on earth. Time that cannot be wasted. Time plays the central role in his Rubaiyat. Reading them one feels the author only reveres time and nothing else. Perhaps a reverence so deep that it instigated him to help measure time by inventing the Jalali Calender ? the most accurate calendar in the history of mankind!

So then this village is a dedication to the man whose Rubaiyat invokes us to live this life to the fullest?here and now?
