I recently became addicted to imam Anwar al-awlakis lectures. MashAllah he is reeAAllyy awesome. i am sure alot of you have heard of him..but for those who havent..so far he had released the stories of alll 25 Prophets in 2 volumes, and a set of lectures of the Day of judgement and the Hereafter in incredible detail, and a set of lectures alone for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He has qari2s in between that read ayahs from the quran ...in short..he does a wonderful job.

This is just a little of what i learned about Prophet Musa.

- In the Quran the story of Musa is mentioned so many times (more than any other prophet) the Quran was almost going to be the book of Musa.

-It was Musa's desire to open Palestine before he died. One day the angel of death came to MUsa (in the form of a man. Musa not know who he was.so he asked him. the man told him i am the angel of death. Musa slapped the angel and his eye came out of his socket. (i cant help but laugh everytime i think about it). the angel returned to Allah (swt) and told him that one of ure 3ibad does not want to die. Allah (swt) sent the angel back and told him to tell Musa to put his hand on the head of a cow..and the number of hairs that fills his palm..thats how many years will be added to his life. the angel gave musa the message. when musa heard this and gave it some thought..he asked the angel..what would happen after that. the angel told his that he will die. when musa realized that hes going to die either way..he just told the angel that hes ready to die. SubhanAllah

some scholors researched why Prophet Musa became angry with the angel the first time..and they came to a conclusion that Musa wanted to open Palestine..but he realized that it wasnt going to happen in his lifetime.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

When truth was lost and hearts frozen.
From you, Allah came a Prophet, chosen.

Blessed Prophet Muhammad(pbuh), obedient to you.
Taught us the things we ought to do.

He taught us for certain that you are one.
And that you have neither a daughter nor son.

He taught us to be good to our mother and father.
And that Paradise lies under the feet of our mother.

I love you my Prophet and sing your praise.
And follow your Sunnah(way), prophetic ways.

One day I will come to visit your tomb.
Insh'Allah, that day will be very soon.

Sura Sad 38: 35 Prophet Sulayman asked God, "O my Lord! forgive me and GRANT ME A KINGDOM SUCH AS SHALL NOT BELONG TO ANYONE AFTER ME. Verily You are the Bestower."

What were the qualities of this first state:
(1) God gave Solomon the ability to RIDE the winds:
Sura 34 Saba Verse 12"And to Solomon We made the Wind OBEDIENT its early morning (stride) was a month's (journey), and its evening (stride) was a month's (journey);

Sura 38 Sad Verse 36" Then We subjected the Wind to his power, to flow gently to his order, whithersoever he willed, "

(2) Prophet Solomon alone controlled the jinn, powerful beings created of fire with great superhuman abilities. They could travel great distances within the blink of an eye (literally see Sura Naml 27: Verses 38-40 Solomon said (to his own men): "O Chiefs! which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?" Said an 'Ifrit, of the Jinns: "I will bring it to thee before thou rise from thy council: indeed I have full strength for the purpose, and may be trusted." Said one who had knowledge of the Book: "I will bring it to thee within the twinkling of any eye!" Then when (Sulaiman) saw it placed firmly before him, he said: "This is by the grace of my Lord! to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful!)***

Sura 34 Saba Verse 12 "....and there were Jinns that worked in front of him, by the leave of his Lord, and if any of them turned aside from Our command, We made him taste of the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.

Sura 34 Saba They worked for him as he desired, (making) Arches, Images, Basins, as large as Reservoirs, and (cooking) Cauldrons fixed (in their places): "Work ye, Sons of Dawud, with thanks! but few of My servants are grateful!"

Sura 38 Sad Verse 37 The Jinn: "As also the evil ones, (including) every kind of builder and diver, Verse As also others bound together in fetters."

(3) Prophet Sulaiman could also understand the language of birds:
Sura 27 Naml (The Ants): And Sulaiman was Dawud's heir. He said: "O ye people! we have been taught the speech of birds, and on us has been bestowed (a little) of all things: this is indeed Grace manifest (from Allah.)"

(4) His army was one such as never before the world had seen: it was composed of birds, jinn, and man. Sura 27 Naml (The Ants): And before Sulaiman were marshalled his hosts, of Jinns and men and birds, and they were all kept in order and ranks. "

This is the closest thing to a Lord of the Rings army you can get. So as you can see the Children of Israel were very blessed.

What were the limits of this Kingdom:

"And We made a people, considered weak, inheritors of lands in both East and West, lands whereon We sent down Our blessings". (Surat al-Araf The Heights 7: 137)

Only God knows for sure, but it definitely included Palestine, parts of Syria, Arabia, and Yemen. Why Arabia and Yemen? Sulaiman brought Islam to Balqis, the Queen of Saba in today's Yemen. His kingdom extended through there because of his relationship to her. Ever wonder why the Arab countries with large Jewish populations were Yemen and Iraq.
