has added a new journalThis weekend (01/15/06) at the MGM Grand I was playing Hold'em with 50 bucks worth of chips. In a limit 2/4 game I was up to $390 in 3 and half hours (6am). I moved my chips to the high rollers table and in 20 minutes was up to $1250. I called a raise from small blind with a 4 and 5 of spades. The flop showed 4h 5h and 5c. I raised and the guy in front of me reraised. I went all in, he called as chip leader and thinking I was bluffing. He was looking for a flush with Ah and 2h. The turn shows a 3h. And the guy beats my full house with a straight flush. Worse loss to date. But I loved the adrenaline rush. Tell me your story!

Took everyone ( 4 palyers) out on the 1st hand with 4 of a kind..I love 8's :PLuisFigo
playing in a $5-$5 no-limit cash game, i had AA...raised to $50 preflop, get two callers...flop comes K-10-5 rainbow, they check and i raise $100, one caller...turn card is a 2...he raises $100 and i'm thinking there's no way he's stayed in with pocket deuces after my raises so he must be on a draw and i re-raise all-in...he calls and flips over pocket deuces!!everytime i tell that story, the first reaction is always 'HE STAYED IN WITH DEUCES!??!'

has added a new journalSalaams, everyone
I've been watching the World Series of Poker on ESPN (how it's considered an ESPN sport, I'll never know) and I got to thinking.....
The main event is a no limit texas hold 'em event and the price of entry is $10,000. Now, you don't actually gamble with money after that - the $10,000 is just the entry fee. Even if you lose terribly, you don't lose any additional money. You can't lose more than the $10,000 fee you spent to get in the door.
So is this still considered gambling? I thought it might be more of an entry fee to a tournament that awards the best skilled player and not so much an actual gambling event.
What are your thoughts?

Complicated situation huh... Although I do that at my house once a year with 20 bucks 8 guys and take 5 bucks out for food. 10 and buy the winnning player a silver bracelet and the rest of the 80 he keeps. So I make it sound like a tournament when I don't gamble myself.Login to find out
