Hi there, after checking out various studios and some efforts to 'modernize' yoga, including the Bikram method, I always seem to return to the yoga that concentrates on the 'self' through postures and meditation... via the Sivananda approach. If you are in any major city..there should be a location you can check out. I've been practicing yoga for about 13 years.

Ok, this might sound a little dum, but It is bothering me and I had to ask my Yoga Students "classmates"!

I finally bought a yoga mat!

It curls at the ends when I spread it on the floor. I have to roll it up and hold it in the carry on net bag which came with it. If I do this then how can I unroll the ends to smoothly stick to the floor when I use it?

What do you do with your mats?

Not dumb...rubber mats are a pain sometimes as they also move depending on the type of floor they are on...I fold mine in half and get the two ends together before rolling it up..this seems to work for me...good luck

roll it with the side that u want to put on the floor on the inside. That way when u roll it out, the rolly-part will be facing the floor and it will flatten out by sticking to the floor.

Anyone has tips for getting the headstand steady? Have to tell you..after these years of practice, this is still a challenge..

I've always spread my arms into a triangle and cupped my head in my hands. This lets me use shoulder and tummy strength to keep myself up.

But it is going to be different for everyone, depending on their body type. Using a wall should make exploration easier.

I find it easiest to do a frog stand first, then go to a headstand.
