At least 31 Shia worshipers were martyred and scores were injured on Friday in a suicide attack at a crowded Zainbia mosque in the south eastern Pakistani city of Sialkot.
The explosion occured at 1:30 P.M local time, as 800 worshipers had gathered for the Friday prayers, and were listening to the sermon.
Witnesses said they saw a man with a briefcase enter the mosque shortly before the blast and as he opened the the briefcase, it exploded.
The intensity of the explosion was so strong that it left a two feet wide crater on the floor and leaving the shades and window panes of the mosque shattered and shattering the walls.
A second briefcase was found outside the mosque, and the bomb disposal experts claimed it was also packed with a nine pound explosive bomb.
Hundreds of angry people started protesting after the attack. Army and police was deployed at the mosque and at hospitals to restore order.
The latest attack on a Shia mosque comes a week after Pakistani security forces killed a top Al Qaeda suspect, Amjad Farooqi.
Farooqi, who had remaied a member of Wahabi terrorist outfits, Sipah-e-Sahaba and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and was Al Qaeeda's top man in Pakistan, was believed to be behind the murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002.
Farooqi is also believed to have masterminded previous attacks on Shia mosques in Pakistan.

I USUALLY DONT BRING UP THESE THINGS BUT I SEE NOBODY ELSE HAS TALKED ABOUT IT YET...I HAD FAMILY FRIENDS THAT WERE INJURED IN THE BOMBINGS IN KARACHI SO THESE RECENT EVENTS HIT CLOSE TO HOME..

it saddens me deeply to see such heinous acts committed in the name of religion... nobody values human life anymore and most definitely ppl don't reflect on the following verse (among many others) in the Quran:
If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein (For ever): And the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon him, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for him.(Surat-un-Nisaa, verse 93)

It pains me to see so much ignorance among the Ummah and ppl thinking killing innocent people (and while in prayer) can somehow give them the heavens are crazy. Allah's curse is on those murderer's who have killed innocent people. Especially killing those people who are the lovers or Rasool Allah and his pure holy family!
