www.counterpunch.org A Conversation with Professor Norman Finkelstein by counterpunch background: www.normanfinkelstein.com Professor Norman Finkelstein is one of a dying breed of American mavericks that relentlessly defies any attempt at easy categorization. He is the son of Holocaust survivors but an unremitting critic of Holocaust reparation claims; a Jew but is a life-long anti Zionist; and though very much a Leftist he is often accused of being a right wing fascist, ... Religious Feeling in Science "Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe-a spirit vastly superior to that of man.... In this way the pursuit of science leads to a religious feeling of a special sort, which is indeed quite different from the religiosity of someone more naive." Letter to a child who asked if scientists pray, January 24, 1936; Einstein Archive 42-601 [http://condor.stcloudstate.edu/~lesikar/einstein/s... Read More

I managed to get enough sleep last night (which is rare and always welcome), woke up in a warm and beautiful bedroom snuggling my two slightly sweaty boys in my arms, ate a rather ecclectic sahoor until I was full, took a warm shower, put on a new outfit that I like very much, drove in my car (which I love) to my job (for which I am grateful) and am generally just feeling grateful and happy today. With so many blessings, I thought I'd start this journal and invite a bit of positive self-reflection.

Ok, here is one.. :) This past week I went to Boston on business. It was a last minute trip and my schedule had me in Boston for one day and NYC the next. The night before my trip to NYC I took a look at my options and decided that the first bus from Boston to NYC would work out well. It was late but I wasn?t sleepy. As I watched Leno I thought to myself that if I normally stay up until midnight on the west coast that has me checking out @ 3 on the east. I looked at the bed and it was huge?6 down pillows?! I ... Tanveer - Here's the before and after shot of Naheed's hands. As you can see, post processing can make a world of difference. Though there's no substitue for a good shot, there a heck of a lot more you can do if you get good at the entire workflow (including the "dark room"). Cheers! Imran.
