Being Muslim, not just in the US but anywhere in the world, has become a unique experience (for some far better, for others far worse, and for still others no different) in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy. How have you changed, if at all, after 9/11? Have you and/or family and/or Muslim friends gotten any backlash for being Muslim? Do you feel that the 9/11 tragedy was in fact the work of "radical Islamic militants" as the media often terms them? What lessons have you learned since 9/11 and how hav... Read More

(A)December 9, 2005 at 6:35pmYou know what, I knew right off the bat that Muslims would definitely be the scapegoats in this mess when the Twin Towers were hit on 9/11. Asalamualaikum, I pray that this message reaches all of you in a rising state of Iman It has been over 2 months since the earthquake in Pakistan yet the situation in the affected areas is as dire as ever. I'm just starting daf, and I already play zills, but my primary instrument is trumpet, so I'm new to studying percussion. I'm learning grooves, but does listening to grooves help? I've a CD of grooves, some of which I'm learning, some of which I'm not studying right now. Also, can anyone reccommend books for either instrument?

At times its one of those triumphant moments when you feel exhilirated after a tension that reaches its peak, taking you along, and culminates in something like orgasm. Bubbles! Winning! You feel powerful, more than yourself, fulfilled, relieved. At times (like today) it's a feather light feeling. Your heart soars as you feel energized, yet your feet feel lighter than air and you feel like you are dancing on a fluffy white cloud- above, beyond the world. You don't go through an agonizing yet deeply enjoyable... Read More

i was reading the ask naseeb things the other day. some of them are boring and some are funny. i particularly liked the one about the 21 yr. old who is engaged to a guy whose recent wife died and he has a 4 yrs old son. so shes jealous cuz he loves the boy and he looks like his wife. so this wacky gurl call the boy "it" and pinches him. it was the only ask naseeb thing i commented on. i felt like wringing her throat with my dads tools. neways..yesterday i was thinking ..what if i put something really bogus and h... Eight weeks into the South Asian earthquake, emergency relief funding is still at a crisis point. The U.N. Emergency Coordinator has warned that "the situation remains very difficult and indeed we are on a knife's edge." Visitors to Amazon.com contributed more than $12.5 million to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina and $16 million for tsunami relief efforts. Yet, eight weeks on, there is no similar button for South Asian earthquake relief aid on Amazon.com's home page. Amazon.com has demonstrated its commitmen... Read More
